I have to agree that a lot of the best known pirate corps are so big now that they generally blob most of the time. That doesn't make them bad, in fact it makes them even scarier. However, it does not make me think of them as "good." This is essentially because individual pilot skill and even gang tactics are lost in such a big fleet. Generally they outnumber their victims enough that even if they did suck, they'd still win. They are rarely ever pushed to the limit, and therefore you never see their best, which is why you rarely think of them as "good".
So basically I bet some small generally unknown corp is probably the best. Even if they die more. Even if they don't scare you with their name. Even if they don't roam big areas.

POD LIberation Authority [PODLA] Get my vote.
These guys are living proof that solo pvp is not dead. Most pirate corps sit in groups of 10+ on a gate waiting to gank haulers and the occasional ship that can fire back. These guys dont blob. they take 3-5 man gangs and PAWN! Its inspiring to watch them work! And fun to fight them :) Respect!

I would agree but I don't class PODLA as pure pirates and I don't think they class themselves as pirates either? But I'm not sure where they stand. I consider PODLA a PvP corp fighting everything they can with the intention of having awesome fights over making isk and they are very good at this.

When speaking of True pirate work I believe the combination of 2 old school Pie corps like DL and LSL are at the top of that list.
I also beleive that people get PvP corps confused with Pie corps often

This really. PODLA is all about the kill and not blob style either. They bring the best ships and fits to the field and their pilots know how to fly them. I'd wager on their side in any subcap small gang fight.

If we are talking about pure low sec piracy, and provided that they are active, I regard Filthy S****in Forge to run one of the best shows in the game. Their gate camps are beautiful especially considering that, in a rough approximate sense, they don't use overpowering numbers. I've been their victim, and when they have their mojo, it's time to go go get another ship.

Could be that if you removed the "S" it spells something else.
I think people here have forgotten what pirating is. What some of you are really asking is, who are the best pvpers? Which is a different thing than pirating. Pirating is about attacking and stealing property from other ships, not necessarily about winning fights or blowing up ships. ItĘs an alternative way of making money and the best pirates would be the richest pirates that are rolling in ISK and donĘt get or have to get there funds any other way. I also think there are 2 reasons there isn't a group that stands out as the best at this activity, pirating.
One being there are, a lot more people in playing Eve than ever before makes it harder for a group to stand out since the crowd is larger and more disperse.
And pirating has become a lost art in Eve. With Logistics being both easier to do, for those that want to avoid risk ea: being pirated. Since Low Sec can basically be skipped with jump drives making it a lot less risky to move large quantities of goods. And an annoyance for pirates since there is no market in low sec so all replacement goods have to come from high sec. Mostly pirates fault for being too successful as predators scaring away all the pray and markets with them.

Individual pirates, I'd give that to PODLA.

Of the alliances that got their name posted in here.. This is what the list looks like when you rank them on their battleclinic ranking;
- #26 Negative Ten
- #52 Chain of Chaos
- #82 Hydra Reloaded
- #94 Maru Kage
- #155 Blood Money Cartel
- #168 SC*M Alliance
- #253 Pod Liberation Authority.
Just shows that some of the peeps posting in here obviously don't got any idea what their talking about But that fact was already known
Anyways.. next to that,, I think that the territories where pirate corps/alliance live in, has a very strong connection between the traffic & their preformance. Scooping up easy kills in systems like Rancer is just a total different thing then a pirate corp that hunts & roams outnumbered in regions without much traffic but much & much of blobs.
Just my 2 cents

Why in the hell would you imply that peoples rankings on Battleclinic have anything at all to do with their effectiveness or success as a corp? A lot of people post on KB's that don't even feed to Battleclinic not to mention that a lack of points might simply mean you and your corp are new or fight against smaller gangs/targets. What a dumb argument to even make.

Ahh I know battleclinic never shows the real picture..Thats why we got killboards But tbh non-api verified killboards dont show it all either. Soooo I doubt its dumb to imply on an statistic that is very close to the actual truth. Agree with ya though that new people got a disadvantage here,, but hey thats why we call em NEW
Anyways, seems I stepped on someone's toes.. *cough* ranked #203 *cough*

If this is true, this would actually make Verone's statement pretty accurate, as it is the solo pirates out there who must utilize every ounce of their skill to succeed as a pirate. This is especially true in NPC corps where you are very unlikely to have any support to back you up in case things go south. ---------- There is always a choice. The choice might not be easy, nor simple, nor the options be what you desire - but, nevertheless, the choice is there to be made. |
