The first iteration of the in-game mail is now available on Singularity.
The focus in this sprint was to expose as much functionality as possible with the intention of improving the UI later. As a result most icons are temporary placeholders and the UI layout and UX flow will see some changes.
The old and new mail systems are currently running in parallel, so the neocom mail button still leads to the old system. To access the new system you need to:
1. Open Escape menu > Shortcuts 2. Click on "ui_cmd_openmail" in Description 3. Assign shortcut and click OK
Then you can use your new shortcut to open the new mail to your heart's content.
Known issues
- UI and UX not final - Automatic broadcast of changes when receiving mail is not yet implemented. Need to close and reopen mail window to check for new mail. - Time stamp on mail replies not formatted correctly - If you receive a mail that was sent to you and a mailing list of which you are not a member, only the mailing list ID number is displayed not its name.
We're looking forward to your feedback!

Thanks for the feedback so far, keep it coming!
To answer some of your questions:
-Blocked list, CSPA charges and Mailing list management are all still being worked on. We expect to have them at the end of the current sprint. -Having "corp" and "alliance" resolve to your corp/alliance is a good idea, I'll speak to CCP Karkur about getting it done. -The change in mailing list functionality that Arkady mentions is an intended one. It gives the person whose mailbox the mail is sitting in full control of what mails they keep and what mails they trash.

I cant type the Aliance or Corp name as i suspected I would be able to.
You are supposed to be able to type your corp/alliance name in the TO field (and should get them as an option in the drop down menu when you start typing the name in the field). Is that not working on your client?

Originally by: zzCoins Every time I jump through a gate the email icon becomes illuminated. I have set the icon not to flash when new mail is received, so this button should never be iluminated, there is no new mail in my mail box
Could you please check if there is a new mail in your old mail system? And if there is, could you mark it as read and check if this still happens?

If you open a big mailbox the 1st time it takes a while and caches it on your disk. After that the fetching process should happen way quicker for you.

Originally by: Wiso Serious folders to help organize your mail like seen in the notepad.
Originally by: Pattern Clarc Would it be possible to add an *Archive* folder or the ability to create folders (not mailing lists)?
Or is that what labels are for? How do labels work?
That's what the labels are for... you assign labels to mails and when you click a label on the left side all the mails that have that label will be displayed. A mail can have more than one label, so the mails you see when you click the corp label are not really duplicates of some of the mails in your inbox, they are the same mails. You can assign labels by dragging them to another label (SHIFT dragging just adds the other label), by using right click option or the "manage labels" window.

removing the lables has completely made allince and corp mails dissapear
Did you ever find those mails?

"Corp" and "alliance" would be even better.
that should work now if (for corps: if you are not in NPC corp, for alliance: if you have the roles)

Originally by: Captain Campion If I make a mailing list, called Gixian. And there's a character called Gixian.
How do I send a mail to Gixian (list) and Gixian (player)?
If you type this in the "to" field, it should pop up a window and tell you that you have a mailing list with that name, and ask you if you want to send to it. If you say you do, then the mailing list is used, but if you don't want that it will search for a character with that name and add it as a recipient if it is found. The pop up only shows if you type in the name... if you use the typeahead thing to pick the list/name you shouldn't get the pop up, and also not if you select the name from the "to" search, reply to or forward a mail, or send a mail using the right click options.

as much as i hate this from security risks its a nice option, but what if my disc crashes? All mail will be lost??
and why is there 2500limit then if we are going to use our own space for storage?
The mails are cached on your local disc but they are always stored on the server as well. Once you open your mail the client gets all the mail headers that are not on your machine already and stores them on your machine. So if you lose your local data or if you switch computers, your mail will be retrieved from the server again.

I believe this change went out yesterday in Dominion 1.0.2
Originally by: Dr BattleSmith 10 minutes of waiting for buggy/untested code to timeout before I'm allowed to compose an evemail?
Originally by: Greytaik what nice function from CCP. Open mails, click reply, go and take BIO, make coffee, come back 10 min later and if you lucky you get the reply window.
I've heard about a few people with this problem, and we have been trying to figure out why this happens. We have been trying to repro this but not been able to. It would really help if you could send detailed bug reports.
It would also help if you could answer these questions for me: - does this happen for all your characters? - does it only take forever the first time you compose/reply to a mail after logging in? - if you log in, open people & places (on buddies tab), wait a bit, then open the mail and try to compose a mail does it take the message window forever to appear?

As of Dominion 1.0.2 only mail sent to you personally will go to the inbox. Corp, alliance and mailing list mail will by default only be visible in their respective locations and not in the inbox.
Regarding documentation you can find a knowledgebase article that explains the mail system via the ? icon in the upper right-hand corner of the mail window.
