Somewhat bored, thought the SOE Epic might be fun, as the Caldari and Amarr Level IV's were a nice change.
Anyway, thinking that an Assault Frig would be a kick, any suggestions on which one might do the trick? I can get into the Hawk and Harpy now, but reading the loadout threads they are not held in very high esteem.
Any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

It's a level 1 epic arc aimed at new players. Any AF has no issues with it. I used an Hawk for the entire thing except one mission where I used a drake to blow up most of the ships for bounties. (You didn't need to blow up anything to complete that mission). However, if you want to kill everything on that mission then bring several friends with battleships :)

I finished the SOE arc in a Hawk using an active tank and light missile launchers. The last guy in the last mission was tough, my DPS was almost too low to break his tank, but after a couple of reloads I managed to pop him.
I've never put rockets on my Hawk, I prefer the range of the lights. Especially for level one missions, the loot and salvage isn't worth forcing them to come in close, just blast them as soon as they come in range. Even with lights you'll tend to instapop the frigates.

I did the whole thing in a t2 fit Rifter ( well, two, with different tanks ) and never came close to having a problem; AF is probably massive overkill.

Yup, AF will make it tremendously easy and dull. If you wanna make it a challenge, start out in something like a Condor/Executioner and see how far you can get.

this.. did the whole thing in a retribution. was **** easy and boring.

I did it twice
First time, 14 day trial character, flew a punisher, was ok, except the very last mission, where i had to get some help since my dps was simply not enough to break his shield.
Second time in a caracal, was a breeze all the way through.
