Hey all. This isn't an issue, and I'm not looking for a fix. I know that it's my Graphics card and I can live with it. Wanted to share the lulz. The following are five screenshots from during Angel Extravaganza.
Screenie #1 Screenie #2 Screenie #3 Screenie #4 Screenie #5
Points of interest :
No idea where the Missile images came from in screenie #5. Wasn't even using heavies or carrying heavies. Geiger-esque patterns in screenie #4. I often get these. Looks like the texture from a Vexor or Ishtar, whilst I was in a golem. In one screenie you can actually see the acceleration gate behind the design. Crazy stuff.
Enjoy laughing at how I play Eve!

You happen to run multiple accounts?
I used to have this problem until I turned off resource-caching on all clients.

Edited by: Lifelongnoob on 19/10/2009 14:15:56 your graphics card is either very old or u have sucessfully cooked your gpu
a new gcard shouldnt cost ya much.... my old nvidia 8500gt sli card is capable of running upto 4 clients with no real issues.
so anything new should certainly have no problems

To add, nope, I run one account only. And the card is a Nvidia Geforce 9600 GSO.

I'd probably reinstall my video drivers and reseat the graphics card.
If that didn't help, I'd buy a new since it's obviously dead jim.

I had similar graphics defects when my gfx card was overheating. I solved it by removing the stock cooler\heatsink\fan with a custom one. After i took it off i was amazed how bunged it up was with dust.
Download HWMonitor. It displays systems temperatures and your graphics card. If its above 70C its running too hot and probably causing the gfx defects. Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. ~Saint |

1. don't catch missingno 2.reinstall video drivers 3. reinstall eve 4. if that doesn't work, try to find or borrow a different video card, if it does, you need a new video card. if not, your problem runs much deeper.

Possible solutions, in the "easiest/best" to "hardest/worst" order :
1. Run a single client with everything turned on lowest graphics settings, no cache, etc (and hope it was a software problem)
2. Set "interval one" (or even "interval two" or higher if your driver allows it) to reduce GPU workload and keep your card slightly cooler (and hope that was the problem and your card isn't physically damaged)
3. Reinstall graphics card drivers (hope it was just driver corruption)
4. Say goodbye to your fried (or soon-to-be-fried) graphics card and buy a new one

Edited by: brutoid on 20/10/2009 00:16:02 I've had the exact same problem as you, but like Chribba, mine manifested itself when playing multi-client only. At first i thought that it might be the graphics card to blame, although it was fairly new at the time, every other game i had played fine, temps weren't a problem etc.
Now, i'm an avid overclocker so all of my machines tend to be run on the 'bleedin edge' and so began checking all other peripherals. It turned out that my system ram was slightly undervolted for the speeds i was running it at, and upon firing some more voltage through them my previous EVE problem was cured.
So the moral of this story is to check that your system ram is ok. Grab a copy of MemTest (not memtest86 as it doesnt stress the ram enough) and see if it throws up any errors.
If you're error free, well, maybe try kicking the pute?
edit: the temporary solution to getting rid of the garbled screen before i realised my ram was the problem was to hit escape, then change either the texture or shader setting to something else and apply, then change it back again and the client would correct itself. Obviously finding the cause of the problem would be the ideal solution.

Actually that sounds like it could be my issue as well then, since turning off the resource-cache essentially (afaik) simply does not cache the stuff in RAM, which would then put less stress on the RAM itself.
I think I'll run some memtests as well and see if that turns out in favor of the voltage-error, thanks.

I run three clients with everything enabled with not problem, including the resource cache...so it SHOULD work.....
Also, I believe there is a GPU memtest program, cant recall the name exactly atm.

If your GPU is good as dead, try this:
1. pre-heat oven at 250 degrees. 2. put in the appearent dead GPU 3. wait 10-15 minutes 4. Let it cool down. 5. See if GPU is back to life. 6. If it didn't, you're getting a new gpu anyway :)
No lie, appearently it seem to bring GPUs back to life again, there are youtube videos on it. ----------------------------------- Peace through power! |

Hah, I have the same video card. Unfortunately, no LSD art. And I play multiple accounts too. Sad times.
