Would it be a bad idea to put a few large shield extenders on my Chimera?

if you came up with it all on your own then yes it probably is a good idea, go for it!
also put a mwd on there, and maybe a hull rep.

Yes, you should always fit LSEs on your carrier. A few CN or DG invulnerability fields and some LSEs will give you an awesome tank. Please also tell me where you plan to use it so I can set up a cyno to help you (I am such a nice guy, after all).

Dont listen to these guys here to be totally honest. Most of them have not used a Chimera so they have no idea how to fit one. It is always a good idea to add some shield extenders on your carrier. More HP = You will live longer.
I would fit it like a Drake basicly. Only its Capital sized

This will give you an awesome tank. Over 1000 DPS tanked And the 2 Extenders give you a lot of hitpoints for enemies to shoot
The Small Shield Transporters run much faster than the capital ones so they actually rep a LOT more and they dont take that much cap either.
I often use this to rat and run anomalies. I just warp in and launch drones and come back an hour later and its all done. If i also want to salvage i take the Shield Transporters off and put in a Salvager and Tractor Beam and i also take a Shield Recharger off and put on a 100mn Microwarp I so that i can move between the wrecks much faster.
