why is this thread still going on?? there is no debate. FOR PVP YOU USE A MWD ON A CRUISER OR DIE.

You'll only fight frigs, but oh the joy.
It is only you. The AB makes it harder to tackle frigates, doesn't help in avoiding their damage, prevents you from kiting them outside their optimals, prevents you from holding tackle on them if they break your web(s) and prevents you from escaping other cruisers, battlecruiser or even battleships. It offers no advantages whatsoever.

The only way that you can think an AB is better is if you know the exact fit of your opponent prior to the fight starting.
For realistic pvp, you have to assume that things won't always go your way, and an MWD will help you disengage, which is a plus.
Basically, your AB will never save you. An MWD will.

Edited by: MadAtTheWorld on 25/10/2009 22:04:19 oh, and stop calling it "an" mwd, people. here's a quick lesson in proper english:
in a sentence, you use the word "an" if the word that follows starts with a vowel. examples: an asshat, an idiot, an ignorant tool. now, if the word that follows starts with a consonant, you use the word "a". examples: a moron, a tard, a complete fool and of course, a micro warp drive.
not so hard to understand is it?

Yeah, it's not perfect, but it's an Omen FFS. The Omen is just so gimped for fittings...

What I find sucks most about the omen is its cap. A few pulses with the mwd with your setup and then it will cap out simply firing the guns and the point.
I have never flown it, but I do fly a kiting vexor with lazors, and I hate the thorax when it gets low on cap. The omen is MUCH worse on cap then the vexor and thorax.
About AB on a thorax. I've used AB on rax myself at times but regarding cap you thorax is the best ship with an MWD due to its bonus. You actually gain cap putting a named MWD on.

Actually since MWD is normally pronounced "em double-yoo dee", one could just as reasonably argue that use of the indefinite article 'an' is justified.
So there.

Edited by: Jintra Jin''tak on 26/10/2009 09:33:42 Only cruiser AB works on is the Omen and that is due to Scorch. Everything else will die in a fire if not lucky to come out right on top. And we all know that'll only be the case in ~10% of your engagements. And even the AB-Omen works better with MWD.
[Omen, 800-MWD] Heat Sink II Heat Sink II 800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Pseudoelectron Containment Field I Adaptive Nano Plating II
10MN MicroWarpdrive I Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Focused Medium Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Ancillary Current Router I
Hobgoblin II x3
And even here the MWD is just there to do it the amarian way. Get in close, melt face, get out. Exept it's Gallente, then 6-7km will be close enough (and still be in AN-MF range).

Not particularly, but somehow you manage to mess it up anyway.
The choice between "a" and "an" depends on the beginning phone of the next word, which actually has very little to do with the spelling.
You say "a US citizen" because "US" begins with the "j" sound. You san "an MWD" because "MWD" begins with the "e" sound.
Both of these are abbreviations, and when you pronounce — and in particular write them — as such, it doesn't matter what the full expansion is or how it's pronounced. Compare the "US" example with the pronoun "us" (which, admittedly isn't used with an article all that often). ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |
