So, im upgrading to Win7, 4 gb RAM, got two 8800GTX SLi .... and im eyeballing a new Samsung 120hz LCD display ....
Any chance that CCP plans to support a 3d environment?
...
Had my comp hooked up to the 48 LCD tv for the Alliance tourny 7 webcast ...
just imagining .. a monitor that big, with full 3d support... .. would be... awe inspiring ... and pants filling ... very on turning ...
Might be really hard to select anything on the screen however. Would take forever to get the mouse across the display, heh.

yes, go to nvidia.com or go to iz3d.com.
Then get some of those cheap paper 3d glasses and set up the program. Make sure you get the red/blue style, also known as anaglyph.
At iz3d.com, they state in games that are compat, it works with eve.
Why do people play Amarr? Because unlike the other races, Amarr characters are much more difficult to play. |

The problem with this stuff is all 2D graphics, and there is lot of this in Eve (chan, market,...).
Maybe one day CCP will work on a full 3D compatible mode for Eve, but as I know for moment they don't and nobody ask for it for moment. We can launch a test for this point.

I saw Eve running on an 80ft observatory star-dome last year. Talk about mind-blowing.

last i checked ure orbiting ure ship witch is effectivly 3d enviroment only thing i could see is if they added the new nebulie and stars they coul implament that in

One will NEVER have true 3d on a 2d screen (as the one that you`re prolly reading this post with). One will need either a headset or mini-projectors (i.e. such as the cameras around your ship).
The links I posted WILL allow one to see eve in 3d, if one can`t, then either - one didn`t set it up correctly, doesn`t have the glasses or just hasn`t tried it out before posting that it didn`t/doesn`t work.
The idea that certain aspects of turning ALL of the eve screen into 3d is kinda not realistic, a piece of paper will never have the same 3d aspect as something like a car or building, so, when one sees the ship and starfield moving (or appearing to), and the chat/market/info screens not moving - THAT is 3d, and that might be as 3d as we can or will ever get until we have a Virtual setup.
But those links I posted WILL give you as close to 3d at this time as possible.
I`d say come back in 2 years and ask this question again.
