If you look at the origional character design sketches in the Art of Eve book, The matari (especially the Brutor) were more Polynesian or Hawaiian than African. I don't remember where i read the reference, but the polynesian influence was quoted ...

As Destination linked, tracking is very important. If your optimal weapon range is 20km you should set your orbit distance to 20km ... as the targets get closer your guns can no longer follow them fast enough and you will miss more often.
