I have finished all my learning and really have no clue where to go, I like doing fleet stuff, I really generally don't care what job I would be tasked with in a Fleet/Raid environment, I am a team player. Obviously I want it to be a combat ship of sorts, I don't care if I am Repping, Shooting, Tackling or scouting.
So what is the most in demand ship/pilot?

- Is Amarr a solid choice or are the other races more proficient?
- The Logistics Command > HAC Command?
- Is this a viable Career Eve pilot decision, IE not a FOTM?

Amarr are a solid choice, not just for lasery goodness, but for logistics and command ships. And believe me, when I say that HAC pilots are everywhere, but command pilots are actual assets.

Amarr is a good choice for what you want. Train for RR and Sniper BS's and you'll do fine. Fleet BS combat requires discipline and teamplay over all else, and if that's your forte, go with it.
Fleet BS combat doesn't require that much piloting "skill", either, so it's not that hard to get into.

So seeing as I am @ 5m SP, I am looking at the following ship path.
Guardian -> Damnation -> ??
Or is there a better choice for, like going a BS with RR's?

damnation is a damn fine ship, plus it is black
and no command ships don't seem to be so fotm, don't see too many dedicated command pilots out there. where almost anyone can fly a hac.
although you will eventually run out of things to train in command, and might want to branch out, other command ships, hacs, recons, battleships. hacs are a pretty small side step, and can be useful for some faster paced pvp. don't really want to bring a damnation to a hac gang, although a claymore with ganglinks would probably be appreciated there.

Make sure you have ABSOLUTELY MAXED, armor tanking skills before you think of flying a Damnation, but yes there VERY useful. --- I am taking pre orders for Navy Armageddons |

Is there a website that would give a character template for these types of builds?

can never have enough light dictors, there already prolly som1 else who flies a maxed damnation, or ull get titan bonuses if your in big fleet stuff, i say light dictors easy to train and cheap'ish Signature graphics that may only contain your character name, corporation logo, corporation or personal slogan or other text that is directly related to your in-game persona, or content directly related to Eve Online. All content must be in good taste.Applebabe |

hic/dic's, logistics and commands are always wanted but you need the skills to back up the ship in any proper fleet.

what can you afford to lose? pvping is about having fun an fbeing able to cope with losing the ship when it goes pear shaped
after insurance dictors are cheapish 40 -50mi per ship about the same isk will get you in a fitted battlecruiser
generally only need one mindlinked command ship per gang but as others have said dictors always in demand, along with electronic warfare ships and then the rest dps

some alliances/corps pay special reimbursement if you fly specific ships which are vital for fleet performance. Logistics/Commandships are usually within this special reimbursement. so in the end, it may come down to the same isk loss if you fly a ceptor/BC or a guardian :)

^^ this Heretic is not a huge skill investments.. One of my favourite ships to fly even at close to 50mill sp.. They do go pop quickly though.. I've stopped counting the amount of times that my current Heretic has been shot to hull before I 'GTFO'

I think the question being asked here is: which command ship is most valuable? The CS that requires logistics, or the CS that requires HAC skills?

Edited by: Omarvelous on 29/10/2009 18:41:37 I just trained siege warfare specialization with a vulture. Its pretty handy for shield tanked gangs. I am probably going to eventually train for the mindlink - pretty clutch for shield gank squads.
*EDIT* Damnation is crucial for BS RR fleets - but you may as well train an alt for that role, since you wont be doing much besides running the gang links.
When T2 prices come down post patch - you'll enjoy pvping in the abso or any other combat CS (yes I'm ******ed enough to pvp in a Nighthawk).
Ignore Me - I'm a Terrible Pilot :)

Commandships are very welcome in fleets, but you need to be able to use gang links and the mind link with at least Wing Command 5 and Fleet 4 (if you are part of a large alliance). So minus good skills to actually fly the ship you will need Leadership 5, Wing Command 5, Fleet 4 (4 is enough), Armoured, Information, Siege, Skirmish Warfare 5, Armoured Warfare Specialist 5, Cybernetics 5, Commandships 4 and Warfare Specialist Link 5, and that's a minimum for a Damnation...put that into Evemon and see how long its takes. Its a fairly boring job though cos you cant RR (med RR is pretty useless) and you don't do much damage, plus if you are defending a system then you will just be sat in a POS with as many ganglinks running as possible so that really is boring...most major alliances have a few alts who are specifically trained for this.
Logistics Ships are very welcome in fleets; both Scimitars and Guardians, HAC gangs and RR BS Fleets respectively. You should really get Logistics 5 but other than that the requirements to fly them are fairly low. Very much in demand, all fleets want Logistics pilots. Oh Basilisks are used to rep POS's...the Gallente ones (cant remember the name) are pretty much not used. If you don't want to be just another grunt in the fleet in a BS then I would train up for Logistics as they are useful and exciting (I'm a full skilled Logistics pilot).
Dics and Hics are another type that fleet commanders like but will die fairly often.
After that Covert Ops are always welcome as scouts and warp ins.
Full T2 fitted RR BS and HAC's are what is needed in most fleets so make sure you have the skills to fly them as well.

If you only have 5 mil SP you should forget about flying a CS or a HAC Get proper support skills and fly harbys for a while or something
