Ships have a base speed attribute, seen on the show-info -> Attributes tab of a ship (not one you're in, or you'll see your max speed)
Your max speed takes the ships base attribute and then adds in bonus for modules like Overdrive Injectors, then rigs, then skills. afterburner/MWD are applications of force in Newtons, so the additional speed granted from those is determined by your ships weight/mass in KG and how many newtons of force is being applied to that mass - Note, the ab/mwd has weight/mass itself, which is added on to your ships mass (hence why strapping a 100mn on a cruiser/bc makes it really heavy, so slow acceleration but faster max speed than on a BS)

More specifically, it is the distance travelled over time. Meters per second (m/s) is one way of expressing it. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

How scientific. But don't forget to show your work though if you want credit. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Edited by: Nomakai Delateriel on 27/10/2009 01:46:21 Ok. This is the way it goes (it's at least very close to this).
S=s*(1+Pmod)*(1+(0.05*A))*(T/(M+Wmod))
S= final speed s= Regular ship speed after modules, ship and navigation bonus. Pmod= MWD/AB speed modifier. For MWDs this is always 500%. For ABs it varies. T2 AB is 135% (which means multiply by 1.35) A= Your level in Acceleration Control T= Your MWD/AB thrust. This is 1,500,000 for 1mn, 15,000,000 for 10mn and 150,000,000 for 100mn M= Ship Mass+total mass of Armor plating. If you have 2x1600mm reinforced rolled tungsten plates this adds 2x2,750,000 kg (or a total of 5,500,000 kg). Wmod= Your MWD/AB weight modifier. This is 500,000 for 1mn, 5,000,000 for 10mn and 50,000,000 for 100mn.
In addition to this there might be MWD speed bonuses built into your ship or some sort of enviromental hazard in wormholes that modifies top speed. ______________________________________________ -My respect can not be won, only lost. It's given freely and only grudgingly withdrawn. |

Edited by: Typhado3 on 27/10/2009 02:07:51 speed x [(1 + mwd speed bonus) x (mwd force in neutons / mass of ship in kg)]
It's pretty simple tbh. Only modules that add mass to your ship is if they say 'mass addition' in other words only armour plates
Other speed modules are also pretty simple, anything that increases your speed is stacking nerfed with each other. If a module decreases your speed it is stacking nerfed (highest decrease taking effect first), these are stacking nerfed seperatly from the positive effect giving ones and also seperatly from any off-ship modules that decrease speed (in other words someone webbing you). Or more simply there are 3 sets {on ship bonuses}, {on ship penelties}, {ppl webbing you} these are each stacking nerfed with others in their own set but not other sets.
