Edited by: Germaldi''s Dad on 27/10/2009 15:30:31 If ccp really wanted to make easy RL Isk the billboards at gates could have real adverts
cocacola or pepsi could have a bid war for quafes
john west tuna could replace long limb roes
BP could bid against Texaco for gas mining rights
AXA or Aviva could provide ship insurance
Amazon could sell skillbooks
Auctions could be sponsored by EBAY

this would really **** off rp'ers in ways you can't even imagine.
anyway big companies like this aren't known for considering the virtual environment well when they take a step into there. look at 2nd life where companies built 'monuments to themselves' in game rather than actually make something interesting or inventive which is the whole purpose of that game. ------------------------------
Just a crazy inventor ccp fix mining agent missions % pls

CCP have discussed this before. They have stated that real word adverts would detract from the game and as such they are not going to abuse the player base. After all do you really think Coca cola would have survived the collapse of the eve gate and the civilization that it supported.
There is also the fact that advertises will want information on who is watching there adds, which means that CCP would have to provide demographics like age, sex , country etc for something that is not likely to generate much income as how may people actually look at the bill board? Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

Edited by: Iman Atheist on 27/10/2009 17:54:33 Just the other day I saw a CONCORD billboard next to a stargate that says:
"JUST SAY NO! Boosters kill brain cells." DED illicit substances division. ...with a picture of some pills in the background.
An anti-drug message in a game? I was both amused and pleased with that... even if they ARE fictional drugs.
Think about this for a second: Instead of renting billboards to large RL corporations, CCP could give free (or cheap) advertising space to non-profit organizations that support a good cause. Think educational, anti-drug, anti-AIDS, anti-whaling...
LOL imagine a huge Richard Dawkins Foundation billboard in Amarr, hahaha.

Actually, I know Coca Cola is okay with non-feedback product exposure, though they do have some conditions to that end. The product exposure may not be tied to combat, drugs or adult content among other things I believe. So a billboard could be allowed, while a Coca Cola logo on the hull of your destroyer would not. But it varies greatly between companies, even between similar companies.
And I agree that it might not suit the RP in this game, though I would've guessed some old Earth companies would make sure to be involved with extraterrestial exploration, and would make sure to set up some factories on new planets, just in case a market opens up there and to cut down on transportation costs.

I now pay my slaves - err, guest workers with quafe mixers and boosters
Why do people play Amarr? Because unlike the other races, Amarr characters are much more difficult to play. |

Edited by: Crowdad on 29/10/2009 22:30:54 Why not just use the space for in-game content advertisement?
There's plenty of people out there that would like to advertise their services for ISK.
If anything CCP needs to implement more ISK sinks.
Edit: oh yeah... this idea already was suggested before... not sure about the real world ads, but I prefer to be in a fictional universe where we can fight to free the slaves. -- Crowdad Programmer, Eve application developer. |

The bill boards should be used to designate territorial ownership, I read a long time ago that 0.0 alliances where going to be able to govern low sec space in some form. but now its a waste of space.
