All help is welcome, also please don't flame i'm sure this has been asked many times and if someone could point me in the direction of another thread that would be great.

"questions like", that's pretty vague, isn't it?
Anyway, I'll start you off with this answer: buy low, sell high.

Good place to start: a busy market hub.
Good items to start selling buying: ones that have a good spread between ask and bid with good volume.
For best effect figure out which items are blown up a lot in PvP or ISK making activities. Investigate them for profit margin * volume, then figure out how much competition there is fighting for that slice of ISK per day. Then fight for the ISK.
And in summary, bigger blobs are the answer. Now what was the question? |

This is the single most important thing many people miss when they are first starting out.
It isn't just margin, it isn't just volume. It is margin*volume, and that is the only number you care about.

It's not a thread per se, but you might find the Market Discussions FAQ helpful. One section includes a multipartite answer to the question 'What are some trading styles?'.
It also has further information in the following categories:
- Basics
- Current Market Prices (Asks, Bids)
- Market History Graphs and Tables
- Out-of-game Market Information
- Marketing Strategy and Tactics
- Pilot Skills and Standings
- Expanding your business
- Contracts
