Edited by: Marchocias on 31/10/2009 11:21:19 I'm looking to create the following as a PvP ship after the Dominion changes, and I want to know if you have any experience flying such a fit, or similar, and how you find it:
High Slots 8x Mega Pulse Laser II (Scorch L)
Mid Slots 2x Tracking Computer (Tracking Speed Script)(Gallente Navy) Sensor Booster (Scan Resolution Script)(Gallente Navy) Cap Recharger II
Low Slots 2x 1600mm Reinforce Rolled Tungsten Plates I 2x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane (Corpum A-Type) 3x Heat Sink (Ahremen's Modified) Damage Control II
Rig Slots 2x Large Energy Locus Coordinator II 1x Large Trimark Armor Pump I
The details of the faction bits and pieces, and rigs are potentially alterable, but basically - is this fit any good... will it work as a midrange sniper? What are the potential downsides?
Edit: If anyone can suggest other workable PvP fits for this ship, maybe closer range or with an active tank, I'd also be interested.
Thanks.

Potential downside? You can do exactly same thing in normal apoc (minus 1x eanm or 1x 1600mm). In reality faction (navy) sniper is just waste of a ship especially when its bonuses are only tank related (more hp).

I recently got into a similarly fit apoc and geddon... they are freaking awesome. Enjoy being top dmg on every km, and dying when an inty tackles you at range, cos you will never kill it. I suspect a non faction ship would work just as well, because you can fly a bazillion of them (insurance means you only lose money on the mods) and therefore can afford to fly closer, and stay longer (whereas in a FF ship you try to GTFO if your tackled or in danger of being caught).

That setup is stupidly expensive to lose, and is worse then an abbey at <45km.
You really need to ask yourself what your trying to do with the ship, 'cause vs any gang your going to be primary and out of alot of isk very fast.

Yeah, im assuming isk is no object, cos you will lose this ship to an interceptor tackle.

Edited by: King Dave on 31/10/2009 12:16:08 [Apocalypse Navy Issue, New Setup 4] 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Centii C-Type Adaptive Nano Plating Centii C-Type Adaptive Nano Plating Amarr Navy Heat Sink Amarr Navy Heat Sink Damage Control II

This setup is better for many reasons; It has a mwd, meaning you can dictate range alot better (being able to get in range so you can use multifreqs will give your more damage than having officer damage mods with scorch) - It has a cap booster, so your entire ship won't be massively effected by one neuting ship. - It has a Warp Disruptor, your target will just warp off with your setup - 3 plates and 3 trimarks, the navy apoc has an advantage of having boat loads of armor, use this to your advantage by using modules which boost this. - Remote Rep in the last high slot, this isn't a solo ship and is basically the perfect RR ship (pre-dominion, post dominion the bhaalgorn will be superior), atleast now you will be useful to your gang mates. - ECCM, 7 mega pulse II's and 2 heat sinks worth of damage can be easily countered by one module on a jamming ship, the ECCM doubles your chance of not being jammed.
Also for the cost of your setup, you really arn't getting much benefit over a normal faction/ tech II fit.

Edited by: Marchocias on 31/10/2009 12:12:32 I see. Thanks for the feedback.
Money isn't a problem, but I can't say I would like to lose one! I live in a WH though, and I generally don't meet a lot of interceptors. Then again I don't really get much chance to PvP in a BS anyway, so maybe I'll make a PvE fit instead.

That looks quite tasty. I already use BSs in a similar style to that, so that might work.

Why on earth would you PvP in that? New Navy Geddon looks far superior for PvP, besides the fact you fit a ship for PvP very poorly.
Officer heatsinks? No propulsion mod? No cap booster and instead a cap recharger? Locus Coordinators instead of trimarks?
If you want to snipe, you should be sniping at 200km with a apoc that can align out before anything gets near you. If you want to be in the action, the apoc can still reach very excellent ranges without all this gimping.
