This bug has been around for ages.
I lost several ships and clones to it already and still CPP haven't even made it possible for GMs to verify the bug so they won't reimburse anything.
I'm very upset about this ...

The same bug happened a few weeks ago to me. I was heading for empire from STAIN and i knew there were atleast 6 Campers at the Hed gate.... it happened on the gate where they were but luckily for me, there was a 5min window where they went to get supplies

The bug is no problem for experienced players - but n00b die quite often. To avoid getting killed this way, you shouldnt try to jump back to the system you came from 2 sec. after jumping - simply wait 10 sec. cloaked...after 10 sec. the problem wont appear.

another variant of this bug is when you use insta bookmarks, if you click jump too fast before actually being fully out of warp, sometimes you'll end up having to wait a good 20 secs before jumping works.

I don't think this is the auto pilot, its done this to me a few times where I insta jump to a gate hit jump and nothing happens for like 20-30sec.

There is an way to avoid that. It worked for me many times.
Use the Autopilot instead of using the right klick menue! This way i do not have delays. Sure you have to be fast because in most cases you'll have to change the direktion where your path was sticked to before....
Step by Step.... Klick on map and choose the system you come from as destination. Go back to inspace 3D View. Switch on Autopilot and push your afterburner button. Voila, as soon as youre at the gate ill work.
However, this wont work if you first tried to jump manually and had this "itll take some time to jump bug". If you first tried to jump manual and switch on the autopilot later on it'll take time until the message jumping in progress has been shown 3 times....
I execised this many times and had never problems when only using the autopilot for jumps.
Hope it helps for all of you who got screwed by CCP due to this "shortcoming" Don't ask "can i have your stuff" because i'll give it to everybody else than you! |

I have had simular problems with my buzzard. I approach a gate cloaked. Expecting the clock to deactiveate when I get to 2000m from the gate I keep an eye on the distance gauge. When it hits about 1500m I hit jump. A few times the ship has stayed cloaked right up untill the point that the ship bumps against the gate. If I manually decloak it won't let me jump because it thinks I am already jumping. Not lost a ship to this yet but its been close a few times.
-----------------------------------------------------
Pain. Looks great on other people. Its what there for. |

This bug wasn't the same as the jump-while-coming-out-of-warp bug. I was sitting there cloaked, watching their ships fly around for about 15 seconds. I looked at every one of their 6 or 7 guys, and then hit my AP and MWD.
That's what ****es me off. It wasn't a known bug to me - the autopilot should always work. It failed me, and I lost millions because of it.
Luckily I have the money to replace it all, but it is still incredibly stupid, and only exacerbated by the fact that there is no recourse for reimbursement.
Like one of the posters said - it's almost a showstopper. For a good 10 minutes I was thinking of cancelling my account.
Next time it happens, I think I will. Don't want to sound like a hardcore nerd, but I do put quite a bit of time into this game. So when I get killed by a bug, it's not like I am just hitting a bad streak everyone goes through, like being ganked by a pirate, but I lose a significant amount of my own time that has to be respent simply generating isk - which is not fun in the least.
So, CCP, get your damn heads about you. This bug is longstanding and easily fixable. When someone approaches a gate and jumps - have them jump. If you need to have them wait to address getting stuck on the other side, then just make us cloak and become invincible while we wait! Not hard to do. Certainly not harder than it is to keep paying customers around when you simply ignore the problem.

I've gotten this a few times too, luckily not in a combat situation yet but have found if you click on stop a couple of times and then double click away from the gate/station then again click on jump/dock it clears.
In a combat situation don't think i'd have the peace of mind to do it though!
The AP deal works well for me to as outlined above - I've only got stuck typically when I try to jump/dock right after coming out of warp.

Why did you go back to the gate when you were in a ship that can enter warp before it can be locked?

It is really annoying to loose ships to bugs. Fair enough, I guess we have them, and they will be fixed - but its seriously annoying that they can't be verified.
I'd much rather loose a ship to my own stupidity than a bug. If I think thinks are going to be dodgy jumping/docking personally I open up with the guns. I still wake up in the cloning station - but at least I have the satisfaction I might have scratched their shields abit...
I've lost many ships to bugs - but I really seriously lost the plot when I lost a probe to another bug. Toy's came out of the pram. It wasn't the financal impact (its a probe - zero impact) but the fact I never got to fire a shot. Sure it was against a battleship, but I rather go down shooting than staring at a screen considering logging off.
ruddy good game to get me so emotionally engaged....

Because I can also get to the gate and jump before I can be locked...
Or at least, that's what I thought.

I get this bug all the time. Especially if im using bms. I think its caused by clicking the gate to jump b4 the ships stopped moving from warp tbh

And avoid jumping before the full end of warp when your ship speed goes down and up again (in the case you're travelling with instas). But I guess everybody knows that atm
