There MUST be some pattern as to what is causing this.
The fact that some ppl see everything happening while others see almost nothing speaks volumes.(and we all agree that ISP/PC is irrelevant in this matter)
How is data feeding handled?
Does the server start feeding the clients with info say.... by alphabetical order and communications are "bottlenecked" after they reach the 50th person in local -or whatever-?
I can imagine that the exact reason cannot be said as it might lead to exploitability ... but you CCP guys really have to look into this!
That`s what`s going to be Eve`s downfall and nothing else
When we all started we imagined massive impressive battles and we even had some in the past...now it`s pointless really.

Originally by: Amthrianius Our combat logs don't show anything out of the ordinary and the server logs show that EVE was running smoothly around the time this happened. This sounds like lag and a lot of things can cause lag like your computer, your Internet service provider experiencing problems or a hickup in one of the many routers your connection goes through before it reaches our servers...
Is this a joke or was that reply for real?
"Everyone is to blame but me" mentality... that's what we need.

Edited by: ElCoCo on 04/11/2004 06:58:45 Jon... compared to recent games (i.e. Doom3) , Eve`s graphics are not even close to beeing decent...
Hell, most ppl play the game totaly zoomed out... or do you thinkg watching a bunch of coloured squares throwing flashy lights at each other is cool looking and should require so many system resources?
Now if someone is getting low FPS that can be contributed to low system specs AND bad coding but that`s not the point here.
We hear ppl with half-decent PCs getting no lag whatsoever in the same battle where others with superpowerful PC`s and connections can`t see a bloody thing.
This can`t be client based... it really can`t.

The cause of the forums lagging seems completely different...
I have 2 PC`s at home and with my adsl line a single page takes sometimes upto 5mins to load... on the PC next to it on another ISP on my 56k modem the pages load instantly! ...
That`s an internet routing problem and does not seem to relate to the game...(if that was the case, I wouldn`t be able to play at all with 5mins response time lol)

For some kinds of actions, the game freezes, even just for a second while it's being fed data (like right clicking in space to bring up system object/bm's list when you've just jumped to the system etc)
I don't see the reason why it should freeze even if it's lagged to hell, so that's one more thing that needs to be looked into with the game's client code... maybe the root of the problem is the same
