Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that the only gallente cruiser with a missile launcher is an ultra-rare Guardian Vexor. A ship that happens to be impossible to find for any reasonable amount of money. Since there are no ways to shoot down missiles with a turret and you CANT live wihtout defenders (esp in pvp) the cruisers would seem a tad useless.
What am I missing here?

hmm, how about a celestis? is has like 2 missile slots, furthermore, Smartbombs can be pretty effective against missiles

The celestis has 3 missile slots, if I remember correctly, but it's not what I'd consider a good cruiser.
If you look at hte story a little, you'll learn that the Gallente favor drones over missiles, that's why they use so few of them...
As for Defenders, you can live with them very well, if you know what you're doing. Tank the missiles, outrun them, or smartbomb them, it depend of the situtation and the ship you're using.

It has 5 hi, 3 mid and 4 low slots.
It can certainly fit 3x 200mm rails and 2 heavy launchers and i think it may be able to run 3 x 250 rails and 2 heavy launchers.
It is the most versatile of the Gallente ships but unfortunately it does not do any one thing particularily well.
The mix of turrets, launchers and drones can be quite nice though.

you are wrong.
Defenders are next to worthless in pvp imo, and if you get killed by lets say a caracal in your rax you are probably doing something wrong.

you are wrong.

How about minmatar ships then, sure we can use missiles on all ships but turrets we're quite limited, most of our ships can't fit all turrets(which of most ships is the only skillbonus) or not almost full with turrets, would like to see 5 turret slots on rupture instead of 4, lose 1 launcher(of course pg would need rebalancing prolly).

Def's will take away some dmg from deflecting the odd missile, they ARE NOT essential to pvp, i dont tihnk ive ever used em cept for npc's :/

Anyway, you Gallente get drones flying out your rear end, what are you complaining about? A Thorax can field more heavy drones than EITHER Caldari battleship can (hell, more than most battleships can).

2 words for you: Capacitor, Timing
At 1000m/s average, you would need three second activation timing to hit an inbound missile with a smart bomb. At that time you need a 10 second recharge. The only way to run a full missile defence would be to run 3 smartbombs on auto repeat. Evan one smartbomb kills capacitor badly.
It simply isnt a feasible solution because once you run out of cap, you die. Meanwhile the guy can just keep spamming them at you and you dont have enough energy to retaliate. Better to just run.
As for your drone count, that is not accurate. THe battleships can handle many more heavies. And furhtermore, Smartbombs ARE a 100% effective weapon against drones. Finally, we arent discussing drone issues but missile issues. Someone can clock you from 40km out with a torp. YOu have to SURVIVE to get close enough to use drones.
