Anyone think that the SuperCarrier's in Dominion will have a more strategic role in capital battles now that they get a Hit point buff and new Captial Killing Fighters?
"One side effect of this change is that the build cost for Supercarriers will go down slightly as they will no longer require the Capital Clone Vat Bay components.
What are they getting? In addition to receiving their own hit point boost, Supercarriers are going to get new teeth in the form of the deadly new Fighter Bombers they can launch. Fighter Bombers have exactly one purpose: to destroy capital ships and look very cool while doing so." -CCP

Well, I think this depends on what role the lesser capitals (dreads, carriers) will have on the battlefield. If dread fleets are going to be very necessary to a campaign, then yeah, Motherships (whoever thought of the name "Supercarrier" needs to be shot...) are going to be vital to defend your space.
I think regular carriers won't suffer as much because their role will be more on the lines of what they were meant for: augmenting standard fleets with fighter and remote rep support. It used to be that clouds of normal fighters and/or a dread gang was one of the only ways to kill seiged dreads in any number. With the addition of Fighter-Bombers, this won't be as much the case (though still a valid technique).

In general I think the changes from Dominion will be great, regarding Titans and Supercarriers (the name is great, don't know why people yell about it. Would be even better if they were called Superstardestroyers, but well...)
Supercarriers carry fighter bombers against other capitals.
Carriers will be used against the smaller ships sind most Supers will concentrate on using FB's.
Titans will start focussing on Titans, Supers or other capitals (wasting the deathstar laser on a BS is pointless).
Big PRO of all this: No single Win Ship, even against a pack of small ships. (Before, a pack of small ships was wiped by a titans DD)
I'm looking forward!

I give it 2 weeks before a KM for a titan using it's deathstar laser on a noobship appears on a killboard

Edited by: Dizzie on 04/11/2009 14:19:50 I do think the new "Deathstar laser" is the best thing for a titan. Most Titan's dont see any action unless approved for the "drive by" attempt which in a fire fight and your winning can come to a lose almost instantly. Not so much fun
But in any case now that the "Supercarrier's" role is more anti-captial instead of anti-BS (more or less)we'll see more titan's with SuperCarrier support (2-3 give or take) if you plan on keeping your titan alive in a battle of Capital proportions (yes yes stupid pun! ) Going to be hard to say which Supercarrier is going to be the better between the Nyx and the Hel, more dmg or double the amount of armor for your drones in a fight. (I told Bubba there is more than 1000 ways to use Duck Tape!)
