I would like to use this character to fly T2 frigate size ships in pvp only. I have a main that is a carebear mission runner to support this habit. Right now I have Minmatar Frigate 4 and have been working on the learning skills & all the basic core support skills to 4 or 5. I want to run in small to medium gangs in 0.0 & be useful to the gang. I am looking at Assualt, Interceptors, Covops, Stealth Bombers, & maybe Electronic Attack ships.
My question to everyone is what are the more useful ships of the above types? i.e Jaguar over an Enyo etc.
Should I crosstrain a couple of frigate skills so I might have Minmatar Frigate 5 & Gallente Frigate 5 or even Amarr Frigate 5 to increase my selection of T2 Frigate size ships?
What are some of you favorite T2 Frigate size ships for small to medium gangs?

These are some of the better ships in each category.
Assault Frigs:
Jaguar/Wolf
Ishkur
Cov Ops:
Hound
Manticore
Interceptors:
Taranis
Crusader
Stilleto (good fleet tackler)
You won't see many EWar frigs due to recon ships filling that role much better.

It all depends on what roles you are planning for the ships as to whether they are good or not. A good example of this is the Retribution which works really well for plexing and playing about in missions, although you'd still be better off in a larger ships in missions. It also can be good for dps support in gangs, but again you might as well be in a larger ship.
The T2 frigate sized ships I prefer for pve are the Retribution and the Ishkur, both very good plex boats, and the ishkur can be setup for exploration stuff fairly easily without sacrificing too much.
For pvp I prefer the Ishkur (MWD, scram, web + gank), Crusader (pulse with scorch and as much range as you can get), Sentinel (when you can't/don't want to take a curse)
For medium gangs I would stick to tackle ceptors, for small gangs any ceptor or fast AF will do ok.

I can't speak for the others, but I've flown the Kitsune a fair bit. It's nice and all, but I think I can definately say I wouldn't have used it if someone else hadn't handed me it free. The extra mobility you get over in this case the Blackbird is pretty nice, but not entirely worth it.

i am a minnie spec and no matter what size fleet there is always something i can fly that will help out.
If you want to cross train you have to remember all the skills that come into play. e.g from minnie to amarr its not just ship skills but always gunnery and maybe nos/neut
sure in some gangs there maybe a better ship for the job but minnie have some awsome ships for small gangs.
jag/wolf. Jag is very veratile and can have a small buffer tank and full tackle. wolf is for when u just wanna tear a hole in your target.
Claw/stilleto. Claw is very fast and if you take a scam can scare the pants off mwd ships while still putting out decent firepower. Stilleto is prob in my view the best tackler in game but doesnt do much else (duel web and scram, mwd)
Saber prob best dicter in game.
What i would advse is train into minnie but also get your misslle skills up then you cann cross train into caldari missle ships easly. crow/cerb/drake ect
