I think its time to change how ice mining is done!
why can't we have the mods not wait all that time to get a slice while people are hunting you don't out in zero space or running out of time any where while you are waiting to finish a cycle!!!
why not have the mods give a small amount of ice particles
in real time so you don't loose any part before you run for you're life or run out of eve time! You could still have it take as long as it takes for a cycle but at least you would have some in you're cargo bay before you dock!!
also this would help allow new drones to be born like small med and large ice harvesting drones both t1 and t2 as well as rouge or faction ones!!(hopefully they give more drone space on mining ships:) )
what do you guys think of this idea!!!!!! |

ICE mining follows the same concept as Mineral Mining.
If you cancel your Strip miners while Mineral mining, you get an appropriate amount of ore based on how long the strip miners were running.
If you are in a Mackinaw and cancel your Ice Miners half way through the cycle you get 1 block of ice instead 2.
Without a massive overhaul of mining mechanics the only real way to accomplish this would be to change the volume of how much Ice weighs, and keep the refine rates the same.
1000m3 currently = 1 Block of ice = 1 Refine
1000m3 New System = X amount of Particle Ice = 1 Refine

I agree it makes no sence that you have to pull in 1000M3 bloacks of ice, as far as i know the ice miner is not a cutting beam that some how manages to cut a perfact bloack every time, the beam should litteraly be melting the ice and sucking it in . sure not in a refined state but still.

I concur, make ice mining a 1000m3 to refine, but smaller units, especially for those of you who like to go to lowsec ice field. Economically, it should not cause a large effect, maybe a small, finite increase in yield, but will take some of the blah from ice mining...

I agree talking as long as it does can leave you sometimes running from low sec pirates with very little to show for the work! |

Sounds like a good idea. The hackinsaw bonus for mining would also not be affected by the change. Ice mining is pretty elite anyway. It is much easier for a newbie miner to make credits by rok mining.

i think this is a good idea!
introduction of ice harvesting drones might also give a guy
a chance in his domi away to make a little extra isk or contribute a little more to the team while he is waiting for npc's to show up to blast them away in low sec!!!!! |
