My bedroom. This morning.
*Alarm clock goes off*
I roll over and take a look at Capsuleer on the iPhone.
I get up and go turn the computer on and start up EVE to queue up train.
The girlfriend wakes up "What are you doing?"
"I'm training" I reply.
"Again? Is that all you do with that game?" (We've had this conversation before)
"Pretty much lately. I can't fly the ships I want to right now so I need to make sure I'm not wasting any time not training."
"Do you even play the game?"
"No. Not really."
"So its just like watching Dragon Ball Z?"
"Hrm.... I'm not sure what you... OH MY GOD! IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!!!"

Why not fly the ships you can fly while you wait for the stuff to train? That's what I'm doing.
Run missions/rat/trade/mine/explore/join RVB do something fun or something to earn some isk to pay for that pretty ship your training to fly (or several of them so you can replace the ones that get blown up)
If you don't want to do that then enjoy the fact that this is a game that you can actually progress in while doing something else.

Eve is one of the reasons for my divorce, and the end of my last two relationships. I too, am pretty much just skilling and lurking around the forums now.
In the end, I still say it's all been worth it.
Now when I'm asked who I'm seeing, I say...
"Her name is Eve."

Just a 700k SP sofar. And about500 MIL to go ;)
Love not having to play so much. Just kicked another mmorpg addiction and there u had to grind alot as it was openended so no max skill levels..
Works fine for me. They should just up the newcomer 100% bonus to about 16 mil SP. even then u wont be able to make max use of a ship not to mention other skills would be neccesary aswell..
Anyway.. m2cents..

I don't know...
I have all the isk I need*, there is no need for me to grind anything in eve and yet I'm compelled to be logged in at any opportunity.
Then again I'm not necessarily actively doing anything. But I can't watch a film on the computer without having eve on the other screen 
I've never managed to watch more than 5 minutes of Dragonball Z so I can't draw any comparisons there. I assume you are implying nothing happens and you are wasting your life away.
*I'm not showing off its not that much... just enough to enjoy a carefree pvp / exploration lifestyle and subscribe by plex.

To be fair... I've had the same conversation with her about when I tried to get her to watch Dragon Ball Z:

They beat him and go back to training AGAIN! I read the damn wikia on it and its pretty much the same damn thing for all 100 seasons!

At the very least get a good cheap ship that you can fly semi-well and go cause some havoc in low sec

Eve is not about just flying the Best'ist and Most OMGUBER Ships.
There is SO much you can do in the low skillpoint game.
The OP just proved that you CAN play a sandbox game wrong!

OK I remember someone explained Dragonball like that to me a long time ago.
Also:
I seem to have the opposite problem. I have a 60m sp char, maxed support across the board and maxed out on most Gallente and various Amarr / Minamtar ships but prefer using this char to fly around in frigs with barely maxed anything. 60m char gets ignored in favour of that... hmmm. I think I have a problem.

What the heck are you setting the alarm clock to train any more? We have a skill Q now! Use it and you can do your training setup at any time of the day you choose.
So this must be a fail troll that you forgot to update.

The one that really gets me the in the cell games saga where the build up before the fight takes ****ing ages and the episodes are nothing but watching that useless **** that's some martial arts champion be a dumbass.

I had the ability to inject a few skills that just became available before I went to work. You still have to alarm clock that because you can't pre-train and queue up skills that you don't have pre-requisites for.
Otherwise... I'd say you are right.

You do know you can train something else in the meantime IF you can't add what you need to the train queue.
And then when you ARE on line at your own reasonable hour rejig your skill queue then.
Sure you main train a few hours of a level 4 or 5 skill that you don't actually want just yet at this very month - however you are still making headway for the future.
Or -
