Edited by: Michwich on 12/11/2009 15:23:49 Here's the deal
I want a Skill Training Que thats as long as my subscription. I want every millisecond of my paid for gametime to have a skill training.
In return, I will pay to not play this game. Thats right, you didnt misread. I will pay for my leave of absesnce from the game. I will pay a monthlyfee for a game im not playing. I wont play, but ill pay.
Because the alternative to paying and not playing, is not playing and not paying!!
So take your pick CCP, do you want players like me to cancel my sub when we take a break from the game? Or do you want us contine subcribing while we take our break? Well, you can have the latter, but you must give also - A skill training que for as long as your subcription is paid for.
But some of you might say, well I lost tonnes of time not remembering to set a skill, why should anyone else have it any easier? That attitude has to change. Skill training is not a game to be won or lost where remembering is victory and forgeting is defeat. Repeat after me. Skill training que is not a game, its a convenience thats not fully convenient. CCP, lets make it conveniet and youll be rewarded.

I would resubscribe though. Thats the point. I wouldnt have cancelled payments if I could take my break and train skills. Thats the deal. You may not want me here but CCP sure does, I give them money.

I say we got back to the way it was for a while; no queue--just an alarm clock and a little dedication. Give it a week and if you make it then I'd rather doubt you'd complain about the 'short' skill queue.

But then you'd do yet another noisy emoquit the next time you saw some shiny you wanted and didn't have.
When a little brat like you throws a tantrum, the correct response is not to reward the brat but to ignore him. Thus the dev response to your post.

Good news! We have a skill-change queue in the game now that allows you to do this.
Quote: do you want players like me to cancel my sub when we take a break from the game?
Yes.
Quote: Skill training is not a game to be won or lost where remembering is victory and forgeting is defeat.
So if you lose a few skill points here and there, it's not particularly critical, thus making a skill queue rather unnecessary.

Wow, how ungrateful are you? You should be glad you got a training queue at all and quit your whining.

I think you'll find CCP couldnt care less about you, what your asking for would take time and manpower, your subscription does not cover the cost of what you propose, and so if it came down to an "Ultimatum" as you so elequently put it... CCP are saving money by ignoring your "idea" and letting you leave.

theres a reasion there is this thing called are api code . get something like evemon and load your api into it , then bang you know exactly what your training and how long till you will have to log in to change a skill
ow and ccp wont care if 5% of there player base leaves as the rest of the base is still massive.

Seriously, are you planning on taking a vacation somewhere without any internet connection for over a month.
If you knew you had a vacation coming up for a couple of weeks then you just make sure you have a skill that takes a couple of weeks to train ready. For instance Battleship lvl 5, any Tech II skill at level 5, any large gunnery skill lvl 5, etc. After you have been playing for a few months you should easily have some skills that would be useful that are going to take over a week to train, and I don't think it's to much trouble to login once a week and change your skill. I just started training Battleship 5 and it's taking 25 days, and that is with lvl 5 implants, all lvl 5 learning skills, and remapped to put all my points in perception and willpower.
A longer que would be nice, but going on vacation isn't a reason that you need it. As far as taking a break from the game, I've done that plenty of times and I just login every couple of weeks and set a really long skill to train, which means that I have a lot of lvl 5 skills.

CCP has the limited queue so that people don't just make feeder accounts so they can spam out characters to sell for isk. Eve rewards the loyal.

you have a valid point. im moving soon and may have to cancel my subscription till i get myself up and running again. it is certainly an inconvinience. the alternative is to waste money on a partial training plan. which these days isnt viable. i dont see how an extended skill que would hurt eve. i think ccp would stand to make more money in the long run IMO

Correction to Zahorite, it does not mean you do or do not have a lot of level 5 skills, but that you have trained some monster ranked skills. (i.e. Freighter Rank 10)... Sorry had to say it.

Well, from that point, when you consider that other games you receive nothing unless you are playing, ie experience, the fact that if you are gone for a month you can still have a long skill going is quite the feature.

There was a legitimate reason to put in a 24 hour que, it really was a pain to say get 20 skills done that were all at lvl 1 or 2, unless you planned to be on for a few hours you just couldn't do it without breaks where you weren't training something, even if you were on people would forget to start a new skill after that nearly useless 8 minute skill finished.
Having a que that lasts as long as you have a subscription is just stupid. For one thing how is Eve going to know exactly how long your subscription is? Another problem is that as your 1 year subscription nears an end you would have a shorter and shorter que. So what are you going to do when you decide that you want to take a break from Eve and you only have 3 days left on your subscription before it renews, you'll be right back here asking for it to be extended past your current subscription.
So why not just go ahead and put an infinite skill que in the game. Sure not a horrible idea, except that what about that you still need to login to the game in order to buy and put new skill books in your que. Oh wait easy solution, it's already been suggested, let you inject the skills but not train them until you have trained the prereq's. So now you can leave the game for a couple of years and come back and have a really nice character, that's great, meanwhile you haven't been playing at all. And what happens if say the server that stores the que has an error and erases your que. Are you going to come back two years after and complain to Eve that your skill plan was erased and they should give you back the skill points.
Let's just leave it how it is. Seriously I move at least once a year, and it's pretty easy in today's world to get your internet setup, just call up your DSL company and within a couple of days they will come out and set it up for you. If it takes you 25 days to get internet when you move or you are taking a vacation for 25 days and can't get internet access on your laptop (can't imagine anyone taking over a three week vacation that doesn't have a laptop) that is just crazy. Eve shouldn't cater to the 1 in ten thousand people that have that problem when they should be working on the huge problems like the ones with the Dominion patch that are upsetting at least 1 in 10 of their players (and most of the rest just don't know about the changes or don't understand them).

agreed. i had no problem with the no skill queue.
a queue to bridge the end time is nice, but there was also something very special about setting your alarmclock at 2:45 AM to swap your skill over.
convenient? no. uniquely EVE? yes.

Edited by: Nico Terces on 13/11/2009 11:26:49 I remember the times when we had no trainingqueue. You couldnt imagine how annoying it was to plan new skills, when u had to wake up at 4am or something because you forgot to start training a longer skill for the night.
The current trainingskill queue basically is a blessing.
Edit: hit me for not reading all threads :p

I totally agree here :) It had its charm to go and wake up in the middle of the night and change your skills. My GF hated it though :P
