Well, I'm 16. 
I think the reason the Eve playerbase is a bit more mature than most online games is how complex it is. The idiots leave pretty fast.

There're lots of under 20 people around here, generalizing about how young people are inmature and can't stand this game is, well, funny

You can show her the Dadalus Project Gender and Age Distribution. The Dadalus Project is a study of people who play MMOs in general. It's pretty clear that MMOs are not dominated by "kiddies".

On the loosing side people "generally" (not all) drop a century in maturity.

Been playing MMO's since i was 16, can say it is far more fun playing MMO's then single player games. Maturity in EVE is generally good but it does have its moments.

If I was married I wouldn't play I don' t think - probably get too much grief.
I had a longterm Gf and used to play online FPS's and that was bad enough.
Devoting 6+ hours a day maybe to a MMORPG does not fit in with most women's idea of a good time.
But then neither does buying a Subaru Impreza or Plasma screen Tv instead of taking them out shopping :)
My theory on Eve is that its good for 20-35 year olds who wish to have their mid-life crisis early before they need to have any responsibility.
