In our effort to bring cool new content that we felt players would enjoy we fell into the same trap that numerous other game development companies have fallen into and for this we apologize. We came up with capital ships and they were clearly popular with the playerbase but we made a slight miscalculation when we introduced the concept of an alliance level supercapital ship. You see we never actually tested the effect that these originally invincible monsters would have on overall gameplay and we freely admit our rookie mistake. In our misguided attempt to balance the cost vs utility of these items we quickly realized that to make them worthwhile is to have a game breaking platform that ruined overall gameplay and destroyed any chance of mass alliance vs alliance warfare that is anything remotely close to fun.
Whoops!
We've realized that there is no way to introduce these broken items in any form into the game without making everybody unhappy so we are going to reimburse all owners of these items to their build cost and we will not introduce them into the game again.
Sorry for any inconvenience and we'll strive not to make such a mistake again. Also ignore any of our attempt to try and duct tape this broken concept into semi usefulness, that was just the effort of a few misguided dev's who while meaning well, didn't know when to just say 'ok this whole concept is dumb and we're cutting our losses'.
Best regards,
Your dev team"
No need to thank me, I can see the gratitude in your hearts.

Don't you mean 18 to 72 months? you do know you can GTC isk and skill for a dread in less than 12 months :)

Originally by: Severion Atarkos This is of courseif CCP actually listen to the feedback we are giving them instead of saying "ok we've taken all your feedback and months of testing", we will now step on it, light it on fire and then **** on your efforts".
And that is the crux of the situation. If its your thing to go into SiSi and monkey around with stuff, then I'm all for it. If you log into SiSi because you are under the misbegotten belief that youÆll log in and because you have been given VÆs across the board and blowing up that third titan (hahaha did you see him go boom!) will make a difference on the way the game is developed then I think you need to take a step back and lay down that pipe of over-bloated ego and understand that the information they want from your 'testing' isn't from anything that you'll ever see. ItÆs all information that would be gathered behind the scene.
You (and by saying You I mean the collective You) must understand by now that any posting on the topic prior to its release isnÆt going to make one iota of difference in it being released or not released. When a company ask for æfeedbackÆ it is in the majority of the time a way to release the pressure valve off of a situation and allow those involved in the ætestingÆ of X-widjit to publicly state their pros and cons of said item or change. It will in the majority of the time have zero relevance into any final decision making process used by a CCP or any company.
٩๏̯͡๏)۶ If anything you just said was true we would not be on our 4th set of changes in 3 weeks now would we. ---------------------------------------------- I fail At forums ٩๏̯͡๏)۶ |

Let's see...

OMG you got something right well done.
Originally by: CCP Nozh
Dreadnoughts and Carriers have the ability to enter Siege mode / Triage mode; both modules vastly increase your tanking and in this case the amount of damage they receive. Thus the large explosion radius scales the damage dealt to capital ships.
So what your saying is if I enter siege mode in my dread I take more damage because I can tank more?
Don't you mean if I enter siege mode I will be takeing less damage because I can no longer be target painted and then that intern scales the damage dealt.
Originally by: CCP Nozh
The Citadel Torpedoes don't do their full potential damage to Dreadnoughts, however they were balanced to do similar amounts of damage towards Dreadnoughts as XL Turrets with this in mind. Citadel Torpedoes have the ability to do more damage to larger targets.
But they don't so were are you getting your info from?
Originally by: CCP Nozh changes subject to something else
I loved the Vs Phoenix one with the 3 target panters lololol Does that not pruve that what you said ôDreadnoughts and Carriers have the ability to enter Siege mode / Triage mode; both modules vastly increase your tanking and in this case the amount of damage they receiveö is infact a lie.

"Capital ship fights rarely if ever happen at short distances."
What I meant by this is that there aren't many situations where you get to fully utilize the short range weapons (especially the "6x2500mm Repeating Artillery I" and "Ion Siege Blaster Cannon I"), due to their poor optimal range and the fact that you can't dictate range while in siege mode. With high damage ammo on Tranquility, your damage output starts dropping rapidly at ~5km, in which case you might as well use the long range weapons.
Backtracking agane.

"Titans"
As stated in the blog, Titans primary role should not be direct damage. We still feel like they need more defined roles, this will be worked on along with proper Mothership changes.
When you say ôWEö Dont you realy mean ôMEö maybe you should read up on other DEVS work

Titans The most dramatic change to Titans will be the removal of the current area of effect, grid smashing, lag generating, fun killing, fleet destroying super weapon.á It's gone, folks!á In its place will be the first of what we hope to be a new line of mutually exclusive super weapons, usable only by Titans. The first of these will debut in Dominion and will keep the names of their grid-wide predecessors but will now focus their destructive energies upon single targets.á (Insert Admiral Ackbar quotes as you please!) There is nothing fancy about this. You will have to warp your titan on grid and actually target an enemy ship to ruin his day.á You won't be killing other supercapitals in one shot, but very little else is going to survive.á The weapon has drawbacks that are designed to prevent the Doomsday drive-bys of the present, but you'll find a couple more changes which might encourage you to stick around a bit longer than before. First up is that the current weapon bonuses on Titans will get just a tiny bit of an enhancement so that the turret locators actually might get used. This damage will vary with fittings, just as with any other ship, but will certainly enable a Titan to make its presence felt if the pilot so chooses. Second, to ensure that you don't instantly melt and can survive more than a minute on the modern EVE capital battlefield, we will be giving Titans a respectable hit point increase.á This will not render Titans invulnerable to assault, but it should allow allied forces time to properly assist them after someone says, "Hey, watch this!" on voice comms and gets in trouble. The future of this ship class is not set in stone and as EVE continues to evolve they may find even more roles to play.á For now, we consider these changes to be a step forward in bringing Titans closer to being an actual ship instead of the giant nano-smart bombs they have become.á However, Titans won't be alone in dealing with the capital fleets of EVE...
Now all we ask is you drop it and get some one that we can trust to do the right thing because at the mo I don't think there one person in EVE that trusts you... ---------------------------------------------- I fail At forums ٩๏̯͡๏)۶ |

Originally by: Sidus Sarmiang The changes to titans and motherships had the potential to change this around. With a tier of ships above dreadnaughts, the possibility of escalating a conflict above a mere capship fight became possible. Imagine an enemy is sieging your POS. You have engaged their subcap fleet, they responded by bringing in dreadnaughts and carriers, you countered them with a hotdrop. You have a slight advantage, but one large enough to win.
Up until the original plan for Dominion, that would've been the end of it. You would win the battle, an important battle, but odds are the war would continue. The titan and mothership changes introduced a new possibility and level to the conflict. Instead of the battle ending with your victory, another cyno opens and suddenly five of the enemy's titans and twice that many motherships supported by repping carriers drop onto the field. The risks and the rewards of the battle have changed. The possibility to lose your dreadnaught fleet in a spectacular manner now exists, but in return the enemy has given you the chance to destroy a good chunk of their supercapital force, which, due to the cost and long construction time, compounded by the lack of sov 4, would effectively destroy them. In order to take advantage of this, though, you have to risk your own supercapitals and the possibility of crippling your own alliance.
This is a hell of a lot more interesting than any type of warfare before it.
You had a chance to give us this.
Instead you want to give us super-rorquals and 18 billion isk titan-bait POS-huggers.
Just fing epic post right there....................... ---------------------------------------------- I fail At forums ٩๏̯͡๏)۶ |
