Edited by: Teck7 on 22/11/2009 08:05:18 This whole patch from top to bottom has turned into a ******ed joke the last month, CCP is so misguided on what they are doing its not even funny anymore. The fact that changes are still flying back and forth with no clear objectives or more importantly no clear insight into today's realities of 0.0, with only 9d left to launch, we can already see what is on the horizon, a total cluster **** of a patch.
The amount of back and forth on stated plans is absolutely ******ed, for example for months we had developers and the like stating both at fanfest and on the forums that although the Titan will see the AOE DD removed, that emphasis will still be placed on making sure the monstrosities of eve as we know it, titans, are still used on the battlefield. However in the end we end up with a joke of a titan change with 10 minute rate of fire death ray (it was somewhat workable at 5 but 10 is just absurdity) where the developers honestly think anyone is going to use titans for the gun dmg is beyond laughable and clearly an indication of how little they understand about 0.0 dread blobs these days (why use titan for dread-like dps when you can just throw a dread on the field).
Now the ever contentious mother ship, far more pilots available to outcry this topic than titans so naturally CCP cant just outright ignore them like they did the titan pilots. The players gave weeks of constructive and very well articulated feedback, things were looking to a point workable in the recent weeks then all of a sudden some kungfu changes fly up from CCP Nozh that totally evaporate every bit of player input and return the mother ships to a useless pile of crap. So, we are left in a situation where CCP has backtracked on anything constructive for mother ships, left thousands of pilots shattered who were clinging to mom changes as the pillar anticipation of dominion to revive enjoyment in eve.
Then we end up with sov mechanics and system upgrades that simply move the POS grind from moons to gates/stations, upgrades that are nothing close to what was promised, lazy programming that fails to actually make true sec values dynamic and late revisions to the timing mechanisms on sov mechanics that do nothing to solve time zone warfare but in fact make it an absolute guarantee (so much for the fanfest statement of not having to get up at 4 in the morning to shoot structures eh?).
Lets not also forget the moon mining side of eve, not only did CCP fail to fix this, all they did was simply choose the laziest possible solution from a programming perspective which was to modify attribute values of T2 production as so to "shift" the demand in moon minerals to more readily available moons. This change is neither a fix nor a long term solution, it is out of the scope of this post to detail why that is the case but I am sure CCP's virtual world economist can detail why it will fail horribly to them (which I am sure he has already).
Likewise late-comer dreadnought changes are an absolute ******ed concept, we get our weapons nerfed, tracking penalties applied directly to the weapons now making capitals completely defenseless against anything smaller than a carrier when out of siege (so my 50 dreads are really not supposed to be able to fight the 100 rr bs or snipe bs that come in on us anymore? they are not very effective at it currently but its doable, but with new changes its impossible). Lets not get into it about the poor phoenix again... and target painters.
Then we have some of the hopefuls that were scrapped like treaties and serious promises over the recent years of revising the corporation (& alliance) management interface. The vaporware that was walking in stations and before that there was the atmospheric battles teasers and vaporware. I could keep going but I am running out of character limit and this is already a wall of text that likely CCP will not read and will do a fine job is disregarding as they've done wi

Edited by: Teck7 on 23/11/2009 03:31:49 Marketing department and executives already have it set in stone on the release date of dominion and doubtful at best there is any margin for deviation on the release date this late in the game. However, it is all a rather moot point as in the last 3 dev blog threads, CCP more or less stops replying all together after a certain point and indications in this thread are that we have passed that point.
There are many well articulated constructive comments and more importantly constructive questions in allot of the recent threads that were never addressed and CCP has made little to no effort to even bother tending to the community concerns at large. Dominion is coming one way or another and CCP is content on putting it out there the way they want it, not the way the community wants it.
I can not speak for other groups but I know one thing for sure, there is a large portion of very disappointed players within atlas, especially the veterans, who have all but given up on eve and are not even logging in anymore and/or are in the process of selling there accounts. Dominion is nothing but a string of broken promises, broken concepts and inadequate solutions (read: lazy programming) to some of the longest standing problems with eve. Allot of the older player base I think was holding out hope that dominion would revitalize the excitement in eve for them but it has become clear that is neither the case nor the ability of CCP any longer.
