The mothership changes were literally the ONLY THING I was looking forward to for this patch. Luckily this blog came out just hours before I threw 5 billion isk worth of minerals into the cooker. I should have known that the CCP that deleted my boot.ini would be equally as incompetent in implementing last minute changes to their patch.
Quote: Capital ship fights rarely if ever happen at short distances.
That is a quote from the devblog where you apparently think that people only have capital fights at range 80 or 100 or something. Point blank capital fights happen ALL THE TIME. You need to go back to the days where your developers actually belong to alliances that use these ships and PLAY THE GAME (clearly with tighter controls on who is doing what cause, heh, T20).
Anyway...back to your awesome plan where 15 billion isk motherships can be alpha'd by your new titan doomsdays weapons.

Why is it that every blog is written by someone different for Dominion and each one is radically different? Do you guys roshambo for whose ideas you will pretend to be coding each week?

AAA, Tri, IT and Goonswarm all agreeing both in tone and substance. Obviously this is just some Goon ploy to be obstructionist jerks and not angry responses from customers who actively play your game and apparently understand it a little better than you do.

Originally by: AJ Regard I think it was a very good blog for numerous reasons.
The way they were headed with motherships was just silly. The whole point as they said themselves was to define the class of each capital ship more, and making it an uber tanked capital killer just doesn't make any sense no matter how you look at it. Realizing they ****ed it up this close to patch day, and starting over was the right decision, so kudos for doing it.
The way dreads are functioning now is also kinda ******ed. Dropping a cap fleet (even without carriers) into battleship fight is pretty much instant win. Out of siege dreads shoot bs's quite well.
With these changes that means dropping dreads in a bs fight wont matter squad. Together with the removal of DD in its current form, this will make fleet fights more enjoyable imo, and open up ways for new tactics.
I am happy they changed the titans to 100% bonus damage only. Having the changed DD and 200% on turrets would just be to insane if you dropped for example 5+ **** on a field. Especially considering the increased ehp.
Sum up: stop whining, they ****ed up with the mom, the rest is fine, get over it!
Dropping a fleet of dreads into a battleship fight means you lose a fleet of dreads with these changes. It doesn't mean "nothing," that's just dumb. If you drop a bunch of BS into the middle of a cruiser fight the cruisers all die....why the hell wouldn't that be true as you class up the ships? If they want to make them less effective fine, but making dreads completely defenseless against battleships is really dumb.
If motherships aren't capital killers than what are they? Currently they will simply be what they have always been...totally useless. They would have been overpowered but you could have simply made them not able to dock and you would have taken care of a good chunk of that problem.
The way motherships were going was indeed broken. The problem is that CCP insists on declaring these dramatic changes with little or no qualification about how firm they are. They decide last minute to make motherships uberpowerful beyond belief and then even more last minute roll everything back, but leaving just enough changed to make the current situation even worse. By rolling MS back and leaving the titan changes as is they have nerfed motherships. If being this terrible at planning deserves "kudos" from one of IT's premiere fleet commanders I can see why you guys are still living in empire.

Thanks for this amazingly substantive and grammatically incorrect post. We look forward to your contributions in the future. <3

Why is December 1st such an incredibly holy date? Why not simply admit that you guys are having a hard time putting everything together the way it needs to be and push the date back? The only thing the players care about are quality changes, and you guys act like the only thing that matters is meeting an arbitrary implementation deadline.
pr0tip: Stop making your devblogs have the tone of "THIS IS WHAT IS GOING TO CHANGE" because we keep making the idiotic mistake of BELIEVING YOU. If you're just kicking around some ideas then just kick them around.

Admit your mistakes and DELAY DOMINION. Do not let stubborn pride force you to rush out an obviously unfinished expansion just to meet an arbitrary deadline.
Lmao. Most people (apart from <1% of the player base that are ACTUALLY AFFECTED BY THESE CHANGES) are actually looking forward to the expansion.
Edited your post for accuracy.

Seriously, this is the exact reason I am pursuing the CSM as there has to be more input from council members who are willing to stand up to CCP at meetings and with my 4 years of 0.0 experience, I can say something a little more intelligent then "you can't use target painters on capitals"
Darth Vote for me on CSM - Voting link My CSM Homepage - Darth for CSM
Yes this way you could have your input ignored both on the internet AND in Iceland.

Edited by: Telender on 20/11/2009 04:45:35 I agree that I think CCP should show some good faith for once and admit that none of this is going according to plan. I hope those at the top realize that this only has partly to do with the substance of the changes and a whole lot to do with the manner in which the changes were proposed and how feedback to those changes was responded to.
Posting from the top of page 22 in the persistently shrinking thread.

"Target Painters Do NOT Work on Titans, Supercaps, Structures, or Sieged Caps"
On Titans and Supercapitals that doesn't matter as their Signature Radius is already very large to begin with. Dreadnoughts and Carriers have the ability to enter Siege mode / Triage mode; both modules vastly increase your tanking and in this case the amount of damage they receive. Thus the large explosion radius scales the damage dealt to capital ships.
The Citadel Torpedoes don't do their full potential damage to Dreadnoughts, however they were balanced to do similar amounts of damage towards Dreadnoughts as XL Turrets with this in mind. Citadel Torpedoes have the ability to do more damage to larger targets.
Your grammar in the first paragraph is insanely confusing. You make it sound as if entering siege somehow increases sig radius ("both modules vastly increase your tanking and in this case the amount of damage they receive") but that is NOT the case so what exactly are you trying to say?
Torps are the ONLY capital weapon that does not do full damage to other capitals. There aren't very many targets larger than a dread and considering dreads are primarily used for shooting pos mods and OTHER CAPITALS this seems pretty inane.
