Getting a hernia fixed, left side. Anything I should be worried about?
I've never gotten surgery before, and a little nervous. Will I be put down?

Ive had a friend in surgery, he says it wasn't very bad at all.
You can never feel anything, because they either knock you unconcious or put you on such powerful painkillers that you don't even get disgusted by yourself getting cut open. __________________________

Only if you break your leg in the final stretch. Then its a couple of guys holding up a tarp and a quick shot of some nerve agent to the base of the brain stem. Glue factory after that.

I heard stories about people who got sedated before operation and later regained consciousness during the surgery. They couldn't speak or move but heard everything, but the worst part is that they felt everything. Ofc the surgeons did not know about that. Allegedly it's a real nightmare.
I'm sure it happens very rarely so there's nothing to worry about.

lol, that likely wouldn't be as traumatic as you'd think. I just worry because a while ago I had to get a staph infection sliced out of me, and my psychotic doctor didn't think it was necessary to num it or anything, shes like "eh". Ever have a 3 cm cube cut out of you? its really painful lol. When she recommended me to this surgeon, i met with him, and he saw my record went "so hows Andrea doing? Still slicing people up?" and I went "yah pretty much" he went "yah, she was always a little sadistic, really good, but sadistic."

My father had a hernia operation a couple of months ago, and while it is minor surgery you should expect to be in bed a couple of days after the surgery if not longer.
You will also probably have a scar directly under your belly button as a result, but it won't be that large.
Goodluck.

Just make sure you still have both kidneys after the surgery

I had surgery twice under general anaesthetic. It is the same process as being put down, just not as final.
Could be different for everyone, but this is what I remember of it.
You are naked except for a gown. Theatre was very cold. They wheel you in, you get on the 'slab' and they stick loads of electro pads on you and then a drip needle in either your elbow or back of your hand.
They then pump a sedative in. I remember feeling drowsy for about 30 seconds then suddenly very hot with *****ling skin. First time I freaked out when this happened and sat up panicking saying '**** somethings gone really bad, help! ... Oh wait is this the anaesthetic starting to ....' Then I was out.
I woke up pretty fast and freezing cold and shivering uncontrollably. There was a sense of time having passed, but it was filled with a complete blankness, not like being asleep.
First time they pumped a drug in and the coldness went instantly. Probably morphine. Second time they stuck a sort of hair dryer thing under the sheet
There was little pain due to the pain killers being given by a drip, but the pain got worse when they took that out although not unbearable.
I think only 2 or 3 per million die under anaesthetic, but I have survived twice so statistically that figure will have gone up for you :-P
Good luck!

Good Luck!
I will be having a hernia repaired on the 10th of December. My incision from my surgery back in May herniated superior about half way up my abdomen.
As for the surgery, it should not be that bad. Granted I have been gutted twice and had 3 other abdominal surgeries and a fairly high pain tolerance, so I may not be the best to say it will be "no problem"
EDIT: The anesthia was never an issue with me and I actually enjoy coming out from the anesthesia. I actually started playing a game about 10 years back after my 3rd surgery. I try to remember as many names as I can of nurses, doctors etc, as I can and try to recall them as soon as I realize I am in company of family that was around during the "put down process"

Just need one. It is rather annoying when one gets lost in the bureaucracy though.
Better to make sure all the limbs are still attached. Otherwise you get home and realise an arm is missing and the hospital claims that they can't be sure it didn't happen after you left because you never mentioned it before and they are pretty sure you had all your limbs when you left. Very sure. Sure they'd notice something like that (which is not the same as saying they didn't or that they'd point it out).

The pain and discomfort will go in 3 - 7 days. It will seem like a long time when you are waiting for it to go, but when you look back on it, it will seem like no time at all. When I had surgery it was on my hip so I wasn't able to wash my *******s for a week. That sucked.
