I purchased a Merlin a while back and just made the mistake of grabbing two mining drones. I read in the eve strategy guide that the Merlin should have 150 for a drone bay capacity, but when I went to put them in my bay I realized that my drone bay says 0/0.0m3. In other words, I have absolutely no drone capacity and I have no idea how to add a cargo item or where to add it, for that matter, in order to get some drone bay capacity. Are ships capable of being upgraded so that you can add cargo capacity? Did the strategy guide have a misprint and Merlins are just made without drone capacity? Or can Merlins be made in different ways so that they have of choice of supporting drones or not at assembly? Thank you ahead of time for any help you might have for me.

Unfortunatley... you are stuck with two unusable drones... Store them and dig em out later once you have a secondary ship that can use them.
The guide is wrong, and was destined to be 5 minutes after the games release... sorry.
A merlin is the same, no matter where you buy it, who from or where... im afraid these are combat frigates, and the Caldari (according to the history) are not big drone users... Gallente are the drone users.
Sorry buddy, but you out of luck :) ---------------- ~= Askari =~

Cute. Thank you for the information :) No big deal. I was just wondering if any ship could be upgraded in any way.

Certain aspects of the ship, like cargo hold, shield, armor, and hull strength, speed, CPU, capacitor performance, and power grid output can be upgraded to an extent using skills and modules. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about a ship's drone bay at this time.
I would recommend you take a closer look at the stats from the market before making any big purchase. CCP made a lot of changes at release to keep ships in balance with each other, and is developing a reputation for rebalancing things whenever they feel like it.
However, if you like using drones in combat and want to use a Caldari ship, you might want to take a look at the Griffin. Ultimately you'll lose a gun, but gain a 100 m3 drone bay. Or, if you are willing to take a look at other race's ships, check out the Gallente Tristan. Compared to the Merlin you'll lose a missile launcher, but gain a 100 m3 drone bay. Drones are also a very good way to defend a Bantam, Imicus, Probe, or Tormenter when you are mining.
Does this help any?

Ther Merlin had a 150 Drone bay in the beta, they killed that in the retail version. -----------------------------------

Thanks again for the information. I think I will look into the Tristan :)

I have both frigates. Trust me, apart from looking sweet as hell, the Tristan is the superior ship. Enjoy!

Unfortunatly the offical guide is for the beta and not the full game. There is so much wrong/missing information. I have contacted prima about this and am waiting on their reply. "Death Before Dishonor" |
