Since a couple of days I notice a drastic increase in isk spamming in local and with mail.
Some of the isk spam comes with mail as soon as you enter local. But most often isk spammers just sit in Jita and spam local all the time.
Sometimes isk spammers fly automatically around from system to system (even through almost empty low sec systems) and spam until they leave system again.
I petition those isk sellers most of the time and I hope that this will help.
One way to counter spam (not only from isk sellers) would be to implement a fee for talking in local depending on the system status. It wouldn't hurt the small guy to pay 1000 isk or so for talking in local (make the fee dynamic depending on the system status like number of people, sec status or whatever) but it will hurt the automatic bot spammers. |

I'd dare say they're totally out of control... been in Help for 2 hours and not a single honest spam has caught my eyes - their employers needs to whip them a bit imho ;) --

They probably try to get as much coverage as possible before they'll get smothered with the expansion and then the "right click -> report ISK spammer" option --------

If ISK Spammers were in control, there wouldn't be any. CCP doesn't want them in their game, therefore when you see them in the game it is because they are out of control.
So they've always been out of control.

Spammers really are out of control...
Are they really adding a right click report isk spammer function? It seems like that feature, combined with robust GM tools, could result in a team of a few guy sjust going *ban* *ban* *ban* all day long :)

CCP should make a pay-per-ban isk program, although the spammers would find a way to ban themselves and profit.
I was also wondering if the change to PLEX trading is freaking out the isk farmers?

It is VERY VERY VERY easy to spoof the CPU ID.
It's incredibly easy to do and would only create more problems than it would solve.
The CPU ID was a brain dead attempt to track computers and what users do. Microsoft loves it because it helps with the activation ball and chain they use, which by the way is so broken it doesn't work many times for legitimate activations.
Within a few hours there was a patch for Linux that changed the CPU ID to whatever you wanted. 0xDEADBEEF is one of my favorits. Anyway it's incredibly easy to do and you could spoof your enemy's CPU ID and then do things to get THEM banned.
Did I mention it's easy to spoof the CPU ID?

CCP needs to higher a local student or 3 to sit in Jita, and when someone spams local for isk or whatever, click a GM level tool that blocks all communication from that person, and automagically joins them to a chat channel full of other spammers, so they don't notice, and they sit there and spam each other for hours on end.

Edited by: Ralnik on 24/11/2009 21:01:08 I typically fly through Hek once a day which is one of the smaller trade hubs. It's insane how much those ****ers can spam in the time I jump in one gate and move out the other.
I swear the same guy (or alt 4 the day) will have spammed 20 to 30 times in the time it takes me to jump from one gate to the next. I think there should be some way CCP can write a script to auto detect spammers in their locals and mute them.
This should go for contract spammers too, because we "ALL" know they are using macros which are against the EULA. At that point maybe the local would be worth a **** for something other than creating giant ignore lists.

yeah, $30 a ban. That in my opion is the best way. After all, if the game tried to detect spammers. What if we were just chatting really quickly? I had that happen in so many games.

I see a ton of macros and spammers. I'm not sure if CCP just gets rid of the spammers because they are annoying and leaves the macros because they like the $$ they get from them. They should get rid of macro-ers and spammers all in one whim, quickly too. It ruins the game for the rest of us.

My idea to stop isk spammers:
Don't let trial accounts talk in any channels aside from noob corp and rookie help. Allow them to PM people.
Create 4 new noob corps just for trial accounts, once you sub, you join the normal noob corp.

It won't help. This will increase petition times because GMs now have to take time away from petitions to take care of the spamming.

No no no a thousand times no. They are annoying enough in local can you imagine having a convo request every other hour from some douche bag isk seller?
Maybe if there was an unremovable CSPA charge that only applied to trails then it would work and any newbs who were legit could easily be reimbursed by the players helping them. You could also have frequency restrictions on trail accounts for talking in local or anywhere else really. -Jin Nib Trading on behalf of Opera Noir since: 2009.03.02 03:53:00

Quote: No no no a thousand times no. They are annoying enough in local can you imagine having a convo request every other hour from some douche bag isk seller?
It would require far more work to convo people (who would refuse), than it currentley does to just spam local.
Quote: Maybe if there was an unremovable CSPA charge that only applied to trails then it would work and any newbs who were legit could easily be reimbursed by the players helping them. You could also have frequency restrictions on trail accounts for talking in local or anywhere else really.
There already are restrictions on spamming channels for trials (wtf is a trail account anyway? oO), and you already have a cspa service charge on convos, even leaving it at the basic rate ~3k isk, would mean a trial account could make only one accepted convo before having to remake an account (as you only start with 5k isk).
So they are more likely, with these restrictions, to pay a sub for one month (or use a plex from farmed isk), to create a valid account. They could then spam as much as they liked, but this in turn would make the 'report isk seller' button actually worthwhile.

Isk spammers are bots. We need someone who will write a bot that petitions isk spammers.
