I don't feel THAT depressed. Maybe I am. Maybe I'm used to it? Either way, chemical lobotomy isn't desirable. I think if so many people seem to be unhappy about life, it's not a matter of the individual any longer - I believe it's an issue with society.

I'm having a pretty good day so... I call shenanigans on that scale. ---------- Anyway, I'm sorry, but that just happens to be how *I* feel about it. What do you think? |

8, due to work being hell for the foreseeable future (bosses try to screw me over by having me do stuff I'm neither qualified, motivated or paid to do, but I'm not in a position to say no). So far I manage to let go of most of the horrors when I go home, hence the low score. Still, that might change, and 4 months ago it would've been a 0...

Just to make you all feel depressed, I scored 3. I'm eating better, sleeping more reasonable hours (i.e. not having lie-ins) and I'm more self critical (I feel I know my faults too well, and I just need to get on and try to fix them)
However, I've just finished a backpacking trip which has massively boosted my self confidence and I just got offered a job (which sadly I couldn't accept because I had the wrong type of working visa)
Edit: SPaG
Edit2: Then again, yesterday afternoon, I would have scored a lot higher, whilst the same evening I was actively buzzing round the house with excitement

well in anyway that is just what the mind thinks.
see what i did there?
one can always choose to be depressive or not unless it is a chemical brain imbalance condition thing. then thats abit harder.
still it doesnt change the laws of the universe and the law is but one and that is:
-self-
listen to it means stop being depressed.

Couldn't agree more. Had my past self (say, from 5 years ago) taken that test today (does that make any sense?), or if someone had done it for me it would probably be a lot higher. For one, I'm a total failure.
But the thing is, I don't give a ****. Interestingly enough, it was a pretty bad depression that made me this way - I was about to become a complete 40+ wreck, but somehow stopped caring instead. Think "Office Space" (apart from the hypnotism) - one moment it's "every day is the worst day of my life", then BAM! I wake up and everything is just great. Even went from white to blue collar. Sadly I don't know how I did it, I guess my sub-conscious made the choice as it kind of just happened.
Call it 4 years of self-deception if you want to, but I for one hope that this mental shield will last for the rest of my life.

Edited by: silly person on 26/11/2009 15:40:15 I don't like that test, some of the questions seem not really indicative of depression or not. For example, it's very common for intelligent people to criticize themselves more harshly, or feel like failures, and that doesn't mean that they are depressed, just more aware of their limits and deficiencies.
At least, that's what my psychologist told me.
(I got a 16 BTW. Wohoo, I'm not as depressed as most the people who have posted!)

I scored 31. If you'd have tested me last year, I'd have scored 31. If you measure me next year, I'll score 31, or possibly 30 if I find a girlfriend who doesn't mind that I hate X-factor.

lol I scored less than 5
I did a similar test (Beck rings a bell) when I was studying Psychology. I thoight my score was al little odd when people started calling out their scores:
25 43 32 55 *there were gasps here*
...then I called out mine:
91
...rather embarrassing
Apparently I was clinically depressed and should ahve been sectioned for my own good.
