PVEÆers vs Pirates
Up to now pirates has been getting away with everything and ccp is not doing anything about it. Therefore I propose this, everyone who is sick of the way CCP has been handling pirates, cancel your accounts. If we can get at least 50% of us canceling our accounts we might see CCP start looking into making changes. If not, they will be losing subscribers. I hope there is enough of us that we can hit 30% or more. If it does happen there will be pay cuts as well as lay offs in the next 6 - 9 months or so.
I am not saying you have to do it, but its a choice if you truly want to protest against pirates in high sec.
If not, then we gave it our best.

WAIT JUST A MINUTE. Are you saying that paying customers playing within game mechanics and limits are ruining EvE as we know it? I agree, we should ALL cancel our accounts right now.
No, seriously.

If you want safe gaming I hear Hello Kitty Online is in Open Beta. If that's a bit too advanced for you, there's always WoW.
Seriously though, the mechanics have been like this forever. Why would you start playing a game this unforgiving and then ask them to change it because it doesn't fit your play style? Did you think that by your joining the Eve community that it'd somehow change to suit you? That's not how it works. You play based on the game mechanics or you don't play. Pretty simple really. You adapt to it, not the other way around.

Wtf are you on about mate!
It is pirates that get screwed over the most.!! You carebear mission runners have it easy! There is hardly any incentive to being a pirate as the game stands.
Im happy that its the way it is, but it would be nice to see just a few lil perks to being a pirate, mabye pirate terrortory or some nice lil low sec status only things. This is just ideas...... but yer....... OP needs to explore more of what eve has to offer I think.

Maybe the OP should stop afk mining and actually pay attention to what's going on?
Failing that, let me know which system you're in

I give it a 4/10 troll rating.
More seriously, the Pirates ARE the Carebears, and vice versa. I'd say the majority of the playerbase goes both ways, as it were, to maximize their game enjoyment.

I am as carebear as they come, and you are just plain wrong. I have playing for a long time and I have lost almost nothing to pirates in highsec. Here are the rules for not losing money in highsec:
--------------------------- 1. Don't fall for can flippers. Always mine with a hauler next to you, and a jetcan next to you and move the ore from the mining ship to the jetcan to the hauler. Put a bookmark in your jetcan, and put the bookmark in your cargohold when someone in a non mining ship enters an asteroid belt. Then stop mining and just sit there quietly. Don't smack talk the pirate, in fact don't do anything. In a minute or two, the pirate will know that you aren't going to fall for a jetcan trick, and that you won't be putting any ore in a jetcan until he leaves. Soon he will move on to a new belt, because he knows there's a sucker born every minute.
By the way, it is even easier if mine with an Orca next to you because you can put the ore into the Orca directly.
2. Don't fall for misleading contracts. People deliberately call regular Megathrons "Navy Megathrons" in contracts and do other things like that. Unless you are making your career as a trader, you can easily buy everything you need in Eve without using the contract system the first few months. Just avoid using contracts until you read the forums enough to know what the scams are.
3. Don't fall for misleading offers. Why on earth would anyone need you to give them 1 dollar in order for them to give you two dollars? Think about it. :)
4. Avoid using autopilot while AFK, and if you must use autopilot while AFK, do it only:
--when you are in highsec --when you are flying the cheapest of ships (shuttles are good for this) --when you have ZERO cargo --ideally not using your main clone with your +5 implants
5. If you are flying with a lot of expensive cargo, expect to be ganked in high sec, especially around the .5 and .6 systems. This sometimes means you need to throw in a few warp core stabilizers instead of expanded cargohold II's, or that you need to use a blockade runner. This of course also means never flying AFK. Deal with it. If there were not a risk, the reward would not be as great. ---------------------------
I've been playing for quite a while now, and the only thing the pirates have gotten from me in high sec is a tiny fraction of my ore when they flipped some of my cans. I could mine all the ore pirates ever stole from me in my hulk in about one hour. I honestly have never felt the loss.
If you think pirates in high sec are so terrible, you just aren't playing the game right.
Oh, and if you are quitting, can I have your stuff? Thanks in advance. :)

Edited by: Vissintock on 29/11/2009 18:34:58 Actually, I think it's a great idea. That way all those crybabies that make griefer pirates look tolerable can just go away and leave the rest of us in peace.
If CCP decides to accommodate them and change the game in THEIR favor, then WE'LL leave.
Carebears are one thing; but, it always annoys when you see "Waaaaah someone in a PvP shooting game is shooting at me! It's not fair! Make them stop!" in the chat channels. If it seems that the game is in the pirate's favor(doesn't seem that way to me), that's because PvP is the heart of the game, and nearly unavoidable, and pirates prefer to ONLY do PvP; and everyone loves the tears.
CCP is not to blame.
If you want to tip the balance against the pirates then stop whining, band together with others who hate pirates and blow them out of the water! 'Scuse me. . . Blow them out of the skies!
Fight fire with fire and gank them in null sec, grief their stations and camp their gates! They'll have fun, you'll have fun and the crybabies can mine our ores behind us in highsec to keep us supplied with ships.
Right now, pirates have the run of the place, not because CCP lets them, but because non or anti pirate PvPers don't want to spend several hours jumping around just to find a few pirates to shoot. Just let them wander and shoot/loot us wherever, and they'll never be far away.
Personally, I jumped the gun and left the tutorial early and am just now joining a corp because I was so eager. I paid with nearly a dozen ships and no kills, but it was fun and not once in high sec.
Just went back and finished the tut missions, I'm Looking forward to my first PvP pirate kill and don't want a bunch of sob sots ruining it with a petition for CCP to artificially keep the pirates in check.
You want the pirates kept in check? Do it yourself! it's more fun that way. <<< Just beyond the starlight, I saw the edge of the world. They are there; they are waiting. We have only just begun. There is far, far more out there than we ever imagined. . . Just beyond the starl |

Edited by: JerichoSteele on 29/11/2009 21:43:00 There are a few simple ideas CCP could implement that would make the game much more equitable, for example:
* Remove the ability of NPC corps to engage in PvP: Pirates who hide in NPC corporations have a distinct advantage in that they cannot be war-decc'd. Unless the victim is able to defeat him in the initial encounter, the pirate has no fear of retribution.
* Transferable killrights: The game has a bounty-system, with just a little retooling it could drastically alter how pirates are dealth with. Imagine a bounty hunter being able to aquire, for a small fee, kill rights to various and sundry pirates. Victims of these pirate attacks could either trade/sell the killrights directly to the Bounty Hunter, or go through the regional bounty offices already supported in the game. Vote "None of the Above" for CSM, remember to vote early and vote often!
