I am reaching out to the C&P Community to find out what the stupidest/most obscene response fleet in history has been.
I will start with a funny, but small scale example:
Sling Bubble on a gate in a 0.0 system that will remain anonymous, happened to catch us... 10+ pods coming from a nearby engagement of unrelated parties.
The pods we caught whined to their alliance (who wouldn't?) who mustered a 36 man response fleet to our massive, clearly impossible-to-defeat 4-man gate camp. (They got 2 ships and 1 pod, I think).
So, if you can beat 9:1 (or even if you can't), post hilarious reponse fleets here. |

No, they just camped for 2 hours without getting any kills at all. CVA eventually got bored leaving 50 or so pets to sit on the gate for the next hour, only to have us run the camp when their numbers dwindled to about 30.

CVA dropped 3 nyxes and about 60 support on our 12 man t2 cruiser roam and managed to kill 1 sabre while losing a couple of ships themselves...

We had a 4 man HAC gang roaming through Tribute about 8 months ago and had a Morsus Mihi Avatar following us around. He doomsdayed us 3 times and missed each time.

Pretty much this. Was roaming through their space in t1 cruisers and ceptors, only 4 of us, and they threw together a 70 man gatecamp which was easily avoided.
Another time OWN alliance formed 30 man gatecamp to stop my lone ishtar which I kept cloaking and going afk in attempt to make me undesirable to try and camp in.

Yup I vote for CVA.
We took 6 or 7 BS into Y-MP Yesterday, had a bit of a fight, then it seemed the entire 90-ish local showed up on grid at optimals. We went home.
One of their guys evidently turned up in a ratting ship, and convoed us to ask if we'd looted his Amarr Navy LAR :) Sadly we hadn't, and had to tell him that one of his alliance mates probably nicked it...
Edit.
Oh and a while back PL triple DD'ed our 30 -man ceptor gang in FWST.

Killing an abaddon in K1Y, Provi and our spy in the intel channel says we got company, so we prepare for a blob and a zealot and retribution land @ 0
Stupid ships to bring against a ranis and a thrasher, moral of the story was failsuace range dictation, I then later died to a 50+ gang on a sling bubble, the funny thing is that it was around 30km off the gate and I almost made it too the gate before a brave crow came in and scrambled me.
Oh and other day I was flying about yvang I think it was, me and my corpie just ransomed a noob hyperion pilot. My corpie needed a pish so we went to GCC safespot and a gang jamp in, So i aligned out and started shouting down the mic to get him to move.
I then scanned 2-3 times to see his Pod and then eventually corpses on the scanner. While this gang was a respone to the hyperion i doubt it but it felt like it so the story still stands
Anyways im still aligned to my safespot and going fullpelt 3.4k/ms aligned to "obvious planet" and crow, arby, vaga, incursus land about 70km away, So i wait until they start to burn and crow gets to around 35km and i warp to that obvious planet. Crow, incursus and arby follows so i align to next obvious planet and wait, soon as all 3 hit grid I warp to next planet, so I land and next scan all I got was crow and incursus so aligned out, obvious planet. Crow and incursus land, crow was 6km away and incursus was 35km but by the time i noticed this I had hit warp to next planet @20km.
Now I land and crow lands 1km from me, so i scram him, overheat blasters and start pounding, 2-3 shots hes dead. THEN incursus lands at 25 and starts shooting me with rails guns lol. THEN arby lands and start shooting me with Medium Pulse Laser II's THEN vaga lands and I engage the incursus but as soon as the vaga comes close I start to make plans on leaving.
Until they all panic'd and warped out leaving me some nice crow loot and 11 warrior II's :)

Was a BC gang of 15 i think goin thru CVA and friends space. 62 involved on just my lossmail. I couldnt count at the time but i think it was double that amount in system waiting for us. You can always count on CVA to bring atleast 3-4 to 1 b4 engaging you, even if your solo. SO ya CVA takes the award for most Obscene response in my book. Then again maybe thats why noone can take there space.

every time I go to hoshoun, no matter if I'm in a rifter, cyclone, ferox, arbitrator or whatever other crappy t1 stuff I fly the CVA friendly locals camp me in with something like this, and they usually stay there at the undock for anywhere between 2 to 4 hours without moving while I'm off reading a book or alt tabbed playing some other game with my eve client logged in, I usually undock every 20 minutes or so to get them aggressed again then go back to reading or being alt tabbed

SoT (I think) dropped a titan on our 15-odd man stealth bomber/recon gang in Fountain a few days ago. I think he only manage to DD one of his own fleet's Apocs though.

Then they dropped a HIC on me with a BS or two, neuted the HIC and got away again.
I was getting the idea that they didn't want me around anymore so I decided to head back home...

Note the ECM drones too. This was while I was experimenting with a basic buffer (read 2x 1600mm, EANM and DCU) and some FU Ewar (read 2x neuts and ECM drones). The idea was finding single, large targets and rendering them useless while I pick away with them with guns.
I didn't really have a group of people willing to try out fits on SiSi for practicality so when I had some extra cash I would drop it on an experiment fit and try it out in lowsec.

So it looks like PVP is hanging around waiting for a chance to blob single ships or small fleets with uber firepower.
Does not sound like a challenge to me. But knowing that such resources are aligned makes me happy to sneak through systems, cloak, use WH shortcuts, and otherwise snarf these griefbears.
If someone is docked with a BS waiting to blob a cruiser with their fellow corp pets, they are stupid enough to deserve being bored.

Did a 20 man Beer Fleet into Ushra Khan space. We were all in T1 Frigs and Cruisers. Hit one of the UK station systems and they undock a carrier and t2 ships to fight us.
Came back the following with 25 t1 cruisers and frigs and UK undocks 3 carreirs and several ships. We bug out and they call in reinforcements from -a-. We decided as drunk as we were to attack the 60 man UK, -A- gang, all T2 ships and battleships support. With our frigs and cruisers. Vent was filled with resounding cheers and toasts as we all died. It was great toasting to the UK Blob on the long trip back in our pods.

I was just trying things out. I'm not claiming this is a great fit, good fit, or even ok fit. I'm also not claiming this is not a bad fit. Just slapped something together with a basic aim and took flight.
At least it wasn't a structure tanking, mining laser, armor tanking, shield tanking hybrid rigged, mining drone, revelation.

Vangaurd deployed capitals and Battlecrisers and hacs to deal with a frigate gang.
We jammed out their carrier on the gate ( with un bonused multi freqs ) and grabbed an arazu before we died. like 9-10 frigates = 30m isk maybe. arazu was just under 200m it was great lawlz

The main reason I didn't use boosters is cause of cargo space, and with neuts and MWD eating my cap they would have been gone fast, and if not, they possibly could have eaten up loot storage room.
Again, I repeat, reiterate, and otherwise say again that this fit was an EXPERIMENT, was NOT meant to be a good fit, and was otherwise just me going "Eh, this MIGHT work in some ways".
However, I'll never know as the carriers broke up my fun. In a way it did work though... 
The plates lasted me through 3 gank attempts, and the neuts and the ECM drones got me away from a HIC and another tackler.

About 300million isk in kills to 90million in losses for the two fleets. Give or take as several ships killed had officer and faction gear on them.

We had a 15 man roam going through solar fleet area, biggest ship we had was a brutix. We were on our way home when a domi jumped through so we engaged it. It than popped a cyno and they dropped 3 thanys on a 15 man roam and killed 2 ppl before we safed up, we than preceded to just walk out the front door.

We were bashing a lowsec POS that had been put up where our alliance-mates POS used to be, and had rolled in 2 dreads. All's fun and giggles until the subcap fleet warps out to regroup. In the minute it takes us to get to a second POS, rep up, and think about heading back, the dread pilots are 'informing' us of the 16 carriers that just got dropped on them. Needless to say, we all warped back and put as many scratches in the lead carrier as we could.
TL;DR - 16 Carriers get dropped on 2 Dreads and 15 subcaps

Its stories like this that make me wonder if they actually intended on getting a fight or just wanted to scare you off.
I mean, I always hear of X amount of cappies being dropped on Y amount of sub-cappies, but never any tackling going on.

You killed a hulk fitted with cheap faction mods, and lost two fleets.
Im not convinced that undocking a carrier and a couple of ships to fight a 25 man cruiser/frig/BC gang really counts as an unreasonable reaction. |

unfortunatly you don't see the whole RZR fleet here, was closer to 40 with 6 falcons and 4 guardians. We popped the arazu(pretty sure it was bait) rest of thier fleet came in, we docked, the Midge, myself, and a few others leeroy'd out and killed the 2 light dictors while thier fleet looked on and although midge did lose his caracal and pod, that's all we lost

a defensive fleet consisting of:
1 recon,
1 wyvern,
2 chimera,
1 archon,
1 phoenix
1 naglfar
was send to retaliate.
the offender managed to post "u crazey?" in

My story is similar to many others - on a smaller scale, but the most inappropriate one i have personally faced. Was fighting Ka-Tet in their space, and we set up a bubble and caught an abaddon or a geddon, forget which, about 3 jumps out of a tation system.
It was taking forever but we were grinding his armour down slowly - not bad for a rapier, a curse and a couple inties.
Then he lights a frikkin cyno and an archon and thanatos jumps in. I mean who really does that to save 1 BS? Well I guess going by the stories in here a lot of people, and with even bigger ships.

You know, I used to have a lot of respect for UNITY as pvpers. They seemed competent, weren't afraid to fly solo or in small gangs despite CVA and friends having a tendency to blob etc etc.

I think my most annoying loss has been in Amamake at the top belt where myself and 2 friends (roastedpot and zeraphine akarii) went GCC to kill a vaga (which we did) only to have close to 40 ships (including a falcon for each of us) land on top of us. We were close to taking down another ship, but permajammed 2 seconds after all the ECM landed on grid and couldn't target anything until we died -_-

True Story
We're in Providence in a gang of recons and stealth bombers killing carebears in faction fit mission running ships in their belts. After the fourth or fifth kill they seemed to get smart and stop undocking, and a CVA gang was on its way down the pipe from 9UY, so we head back to YMP and sitting on the Kari gate we find the following:
2x Hictors, sitting on top of each other, both with their bubbles on, 20 k off the gate
A thrid hictor in a sniper position above the gate without a bubble.
A damnation with that hictor in the sniper spot.
A Carrier on the gate In the overlapping hictor bubble.
An uncloaked falcon on the gate.
Two pods 20 k off the gate
three rookie ships inside the hictor bubble
five frigates flying around the gate
three ravens 40 k off the gate
and a hulk sitting just outside the hictor bubble.
this was dubbed the Speshul camp
