Edited by: Merdaneth on 02/12/2009 22:15:34 Amarr culture is an intricate network of Scripture, decrees by the Emperor, Theology Council edicts, local Justices rulings, Holder laws and familial obligations. As such there cannot be one 100% accurate answer to any question, especially since the circumstances are always taken into consideration.
Originally by: Mathhew Kane Is a Holder allowed to Marry a slave? A freed slave?
A slave is property, so not a valid subject for the marriage ceremonies I'm aware of. A freed slave is simply a citizen, in which case other traditions determine if the citizen is an allowable subject for marriage.
Originally by: Mathhew Kane What rights do freed slaves have in Amarr culture?
Freed slaves is simply something that bespeaks of one's history, and not one's current position or station. Citizens in Amarr generally don't have 'rights' as such, they are allowed more privileges than slaves.
Originally by: Mathhew Kane How does a slave become freed?
Again, no one answer is correct. One can be set free by one's owner (providing the correct paperwork is completed), one can be declared free by Emperor's decree (as we have witnesses) or by other ruling bodies and/or specific circumstances.
Originally by: Mathhew Kane Do slaves have any protections against abusive masters?
Slaves have plenty of protections. A primary protection is that an abusive master ultimately has to answer to God. More common worldly protection exists, as mistreatment can be a sign of sin and immorality, and one generally wants to avoid being reported for sinning.
Originally by: Mathhew Kane What protections does a slave have if at all?
The question is unclear. His primary protection is devotion to God and his owner obviously. Strong bones can help as well. What are you getting at?
Originally by: Mathhew Kane Can a holder be found to be unfit to own a slave? How?
Of course. He has to be found unfit by someone who has authority over him concerning such a matter, that's obvious enough. Who has authority of what Holder and when differs according to the specific circumstances of course.

I do believe your original master has trained you poorly if you are unable to answer this basic question yourself mr. Kane. What was his name? I can lend him some aid. ____
