I did a quick update in my spreadsheet to the new numbers for the Occator and Mackinaw and even with the reduction in sylramic fibers used to make the armor plates, the 10x increase in the numbers used increased the build cost by about 50%. Thought this change was supposed to LOWER the costs?

LOL No.. It was designed to reduce the Reactor requirements which uses Dyspro, which was a multi-billion ISK a month moon.
They changed it to reduce the usage stress on Dyspro and push it over to the abundant underused faction mineral. This was definatly a play by CCP to shrink the big alliances. Why protect a Dyspro moon 30 jumps away from your alliances main base of operation when you can upgrade to a carbide moon very quickly and without the need to protect the moon so far away.
The main stream ISK generator was clearly focused on the Armor plates which are HEAVY in factional mineral. Like Tungsten, Titianium, Crystalin etc.
While some where buying up all the new changes, I purchased a few T2 ships knowing that their price was about to HIKE!
Enjoy trying to build against an inventory from marketing people with loads of ISK that purchased up all the T2 ships they could :)

Don't panic guys, it's just a question of the resources not being exploited to the required extent yet.
Demand for Scandium, Tungsten, Cobalt and Titanium suddenly doubled, but there's not that many moons being mined yet. There's plenty out there though, and so they'll start getting exploited and the price of the armor plates will drop... just give it some time.

Why would I panic, when I was one of those who scooped up the 'low-priced' (relatively speaking) ships? :p
Personally I hope things take their sweet time balancing out.

If this is true, I would STRONGLY suggest liquidating long-term t2 and moongoo investments (or being reaady to liquidate at any moment); CCP does not appear to like ultra-expensive t2 (or math, but, that's another story) and t2 ship prices this high WILL cause ccp to swing the nerfbat.
edit: unless you're buying the stuff now for quick resale in which case good for you.

The uber-high prices won't last more than a few weeks, a month tops, and by late January ship prices could actually go below levels they were a month ago, but then slowly climb back up to somewhere in-between those two extremes.

Long term T2 cost may well go up, but the profit from the parts will be much smaller and spread around not just concentrated in a couple of products.
ROI on intermediates come down to coincide with Alliance costs going up, everything working as CCP intended.
Time to get back in those nice and cheap T1 ships.

I'd actually agree with that statement if it wasn't for T3 ships.
CCP pushed T3 as "the middle ground" between T1 and T2.
T1 being cheap and disposable T2 being highly specialized T3 being jack of all, master of none.
If T3 is floating around 200mil, and T2 prices are jacked up to 400-500mil then I would believe CCP are not going to nerf that.

To clerify, I'm not considering the crazy spikes in price of carbonides and sylramic fibers last night and today due to speculation. Using the same prices they have been at for the last month or so and ONLY adjusting for the changes in the blueprints, the production cost went up 45-50%. I don't see this coming down any time soon unless ferrogel et al crash even more ( and it would have to be a LOT more since they no longer account for a very significant portion of the production cost ) than they already have over the last month ( down from 65k to 35k or so ). I doubt very much that we will see carbonides fall back to under 75 isk any time in the foreseeable future either.

I'm confused - i just bought enough materials direct from SELL orders an hour ago to build me a crapola of certain t2 ships i like, I updated my production worksheet with prices direct from eve central and i was still clearing a nice profit. I didn't even check to see if the t2 ships price had moved and assumed it was the same as it has been for the past 2/3 weeks.
Are some t2 ships going to be unaffected or are the ripples outward taking their time to reach the whole t2 ship market?
Wish i was at home so i could totally take the **** and profiteer like a mofo off the back of all this.

Smaller T2 ships will be some of the last to be affected.
At the moment you have marketing people buying up the larger T2 ships because they will have the largest ISK value increase. A 10m T2 frigate is only going to go up to say 20-30mil. Where as a Commandship/Hulk/Battleships etc are going to go up in price by several hundred million ISK.
