It sounds like you may be trying to activate an account that was only ever a trial account.
Make sure you're using the right account name and not one that you made as a trial account a long time ago.
If it's an account you paid for previously it will only be the $15.00

its not a trial act its full blown Act. Shows where previous months were payed etc click the reactivation link
and get "Your card will be automatically charged $14.95 for every month of game time until you change your payment method or cancel your account. You will be charged an additional $5.00 registration fee with your first payment, which will not be charged again. Your account will be activated immediately"
by everything except gtc payment method it says theres a fee
maybe they linked wrong page or something im not going to test it to find out if get charged an extra 5 bucks tho

All I can tell you is that when I reactivated my account last month after it was inactive for a year I was only charged the $14.95

Why don't you go complain that your local pizza restaurant reserves the right to refuse service to anyone while you're at it.
I'm pretty sure that to date ccp has never deleted an account. They're just covering themselves legally in case they ever run out of storage or something.

I think reading and comprehension skills just hit this thread for wrecking damage.

actually if you guys look at the site, it definitely looks like you get charged $5. I would like CCP to comment on the poor wording of this page

Patch notes for dominion indicate that inactive trial accounts will be deleted after a short period.

The phrase "first payment" can be interpreted in many ways. That is why it is so ambiguous.

Edited by: Eradiani on 02/12/2009 06:33:02 yeah I know to me it definitely sounds like it's only on the convergence from trial to activation, it's just poorly worded. Because it's on the re-activation page, which you only are re-activating once you have been activated.. |

Isn't the reactivation page just a link to account management? Can't login from here to check, but I thought it was pretty much just a convenience link.
Anyway, I don't think it's poorly worded. Maybe if you're focussed on the "re" in reactivation. idk.

there's somewhere sitting a guy who has to turn on the old sqlserver and check your account to reactivate. So these 5 bucks are for his job :)

Indeed.
The first time you pay for a trial account, thus upgrading it to a full account, you are charged 19.95. All subsequent months are 14.95.
Reactivating an account that has been inactive for any period of time only costs the normal 14.95.
Think of it this way; Most MMOs require you to buy the game box or CD Key for a certain price. They then give you a free month. With EVE, you buy the game for 19.95 and get a free month.

Use the wrong alt?
Anyway, the first month *should* be more. You have to download the client which costs CCP money for bandwidth. Every expansion/patch is free after that. You're just paying for a lifetime supply of expansions for only $5!

the plex are stil bought from CCP, so it makes no difference to them.

Of course it does. They are losing out on the 5Ç. That was his point. Unless PLEX activation only grants like 20 or so days, which I don't think is the case.

i had the exact same issue with my account :
my subscription expired yesterday and when i went to re-activate i saw the same misleading description. I thought that due to me not adding more time in my account before the account expired i now had to pay an extra 5e to reactivate. I ended buying GTCs cause it didn't had that "extra 5e" crap in the description ...
CCP should definitely make it so that info appear ONLY on trial accounts and not in everyone .

Yes it would seem so. However, people that have already activated, but are currently de-activated, are still seeing this on the re-activation page and asking questions. --------------------- Creator of another Mining Calculator |

Edited by: Hound Halfhand on 13/01/2010 04:24:18 My credit card company put a hold on my card last month and didn't tell me. They thought they saw a fraud indicator but it turned out legit. I found out when Eve sent me an email advising me my card had been denied. I got my card reactivated and then re-subbed my Eve account. I had the same thought and was kinda ticked when I saw the $5 for my account being off no longer than 30 minutes. However when I re-subbed it didn't have the $5 in the final charge. They really need to change that. On the plus side I now subscribe for 6 months at a time. |

The first credit card I used for eve would deny every 3rd or 4th charge, and call me with "suspicious activity from iceland". I told them to authorize it now and forever. They didn't. I had to switch cards to keep from getting deactivated. --
