Ok lets make it easy MWD/Interceptor 101... In order to effectively use an interceptor with a MWD for survivability (a lot of folks in pvp use them as disposable, this ofc does not require any real skill)... you need to have interceptor 5...
WHY: MWDs increase your signature radius which increases the amount of damage you take from missiles and the likelyhood you will get hit by guns significantly. It also affects how fast you are scanned down. Interceptor 5 will reduce that penalty by 75%...
If missiles are still nailing you hard at top speed with MWD down almost 100% guaranteed you dont have enough skill in the base interceptor skill.

Seems to me that your best off doing what has always worked for 0.0, get an alt to scout in a cheep frig or noobship, then follow them in an AF in this case. It would also be possible (maybe) to do this in a ranis with blasters, that 200dps+. If you really want to go all out and spend the ISk, a dictor like the saber, or a well fit eris would be very nice. Just costs a bit more, but with perfect skill they pull off 256dps(eris) and 231-292dps(saber:barrage-RF EMP) while tanking as well as an AF!

@ yukiro mission
after 2 rifters (plate ab rep), 1 thrasher (mwd mse) and 1 kestrel, i finally finished this one (using another rifter).
first three tries, i went after the 2 frigates, ignored the battlecruiser and went directly after yukiro. wrong move lol, the battlecruiser was doing the most dps while yukiro had me on lockdown with web and point. went and bought a kestrel fitted with ab and kinetic missiles and this time tried to kill the bc. finally got the bc but yukiro had me pointed at 20km and so my ship blew up. went back on a rifter and finally got him by just using guns dc nos and repper to last as long as possible.
compared to the gurista epic arc, this one fight is harder than what ive seen so far in the other epic arc. been using a punisher with t1 lol fit.

Seems the Guristas epic arc is similar re: ship choices.
I did it in a blasteranis (pvp fit since I get easily bored running missions.)
On 3, maybe 4 of the missions I was forced to kite the rats and rely on my 2 Hobgoblin IIs to do all the damage, since it was impossible to get in and stay in close for any reasonable amount of time.
On the final mission, you have to approach and blow up a forcefield and retrieve some logs from a bunker. I'm not sure if it's distance, time or kill triggered, but after killing a few guards and approaching the force field, around 60 frigates spawned, all insta aggroing me. Annoyingly they loved to jam as well, so for the next 10 minutes I sat in boredom as my drones chewed through them. Other than a 25km range interceptor, such as a Crow, I cannot invisage another way of doing this.

Edited by: Shaddrack on 15/12/2009 12:19:16 Don't know what is happening in Angel space but you will not have so much trouble in Venal doing Guristas epic mission.
Tri and White Noise usually don't bother with epic mission runners mainly because its pain in the neck. Also agent is located in H-PA IV station and main tri forces are located in V station.
Also it is good to know that best times for doing missions are around 19 - 22 CE time (+01.00). At that point tri is usually fighting north. One more thing, do not go to pipe K3 - N5Y unless it is of great need, NY5 station is usually camped.

What's the verdict on just using using a drone boat for these missions?

Edited by: KLizMaN on 16/12/2009 04:45:52 I did the Angel missions the other day (took a little less than a day) Pretty straight forward if you know how to fly an interceptor ... and no you don't need interceptor 5 either.
setup was; crusader hi: 4x dual light beams -with faction microwave/multi/ could use t2 range if you want. t2 you'll get a range of just over 20km
mid: 1x mwd / 1x cap recharger
lo: 1x sm rep / 1x MAPC / 1x ANP / 1x overdrive
rigs: 2x ccc
This gave me plenty of dps to kill any target. Just save the cruisers for last and orbit at 5000m. Multi will eat them up.

getting into Venal is the hard part especially if youre not blue to Morsus/Razor/Majesta. out of the 4 pipes i tried to get into, the 2 ones into tribute were camped by 20man bubble camps. vale of the silent and pure blind are easier but also longer route with a bunch of sabres gate humping every stargate.

Yeah, I beat it! Higher interceptor skill helped a lot, as did armour tanking my Claw. Even with the reduced agility, i handled the last few missions with something approaching ease, aside from a wandering fleet i had to avoid.
