How long does it usually take for them to be responded to?
I bought a battlecruiser and never got it...

Urgent petitions (stuck, mission in progress): minutes Just petitions: a day, perhaps two Reimbursement petitions: days/weeks
Yours would be from the middle category.

This just sounds like you made a buy order instead of buying from a sell order. First, check your Assets window to see if it was just delayed when you bought it. Next, check your Wallet / Orders - Buying section (you may need to make the window bigger to see items there). If you see a listing for your BC there and money held in escrow for it, then you made a buy order.
If you did make a buy order, you can either wait until another player sells to it (may take some time), or you can cancel it and then buy from a sell order. Do *NOT* make an "advanced" buy, that's how you make buy orders. ---

Why would I have made a buy order? I checked the market, then selected a BC that was on sale and bought that.
In anycase, what you described is what was on my balance sheet (It was on the order form) It just expired, but I didn't receive my money back. And I have no BC

Only a buy order could expire. So you DID make a buy order?
Check your wallet: did the money come back after "your order" expired? Is anything showing in the "orders" tab in your wallet?
Check your assets: maybe you bought it at another station by accident.
Did you order it for your (player) corp? If yes, check the deliveries.
If you paid for the BC and you are sure you didn't recieve it, file a petition.
Edit: wait 'till the next DT and check again.

I guess I made a buy order. But it shouldn't have been a buy order was what I was saying.
It did expire. I didn't recieve my funds or BC. I thouroughly checked (And doublechecked) my assets. I don't belong to a player corp.
I did file a petitition. And I will check after next down time. (When is the next downtime?)

Downtime is 11:00 Eve time (UTC/GMT).
Don't worry your ISK will be returned to you at downtime.

To quote myself,
Originally by: Horchan Do *NOT* make an "advanced" buy, that's how you make buy orders.
You most likely right clicked a sell order, selected "Buy this item", then clicked "advanced" on the buy window that popped up. This changed it from you buying from that sell order to creating your own buy order.
Don't worry too much about it, I'm sure almost everyone has done it at one point or another in their EVE career. I'm no exception. We just have to live and learn. =) ---

As above - you accidentally made a buy order. When orders expire, the items/isk often enter a limbo until downtime - but you'll have it safely after DT. ----------------

Are you sure this BC was sold at the same station you were, when you bought it?
Check your assets tab, it shows you what you have in different stations.
Just my thoughts.
