$2400 and it still cant run EVE?
Im gonna have to say, you have been ripped off.
My $1700 laptop can run EVE on high.
And really, when impleminting a massive patch like this, you can expect some problems, its not going to be perfect stright away.
Another thing, there is soo many people trying to get on right now, theres a new record for most people online, 54000, thats causing a few problems on the servers too.
Now stop crying and HTFU!

The superior value of components matter very little when there is a memory leak at play, especially if said memory leak is in the framebuffer.

This kind of thing has very little (actually, absolutely nothing) to do with the OP's problems. Network latency and cluster saturation have zero to do with a framebuffer that needs to be cleared every time someone warps, docks, undocks, jumps, etc in order for the game to run smoothly.

My computer is the C3 unit out of a 1985 Chevy Malibu, and it calculates pi 1m in 7.8 seconds. It also runs eve at approx 1100 FPS. It cost me 8 bucks at the junkyard.

Computer? You're lucky! I run four accounts at 1080p on a piece of soggy french toast.

So much e-peen waving in this thread.
Eve does not
1. Require (or even work well) on multi-GPU systems. A 5970 will not be perceptibly faster than a $25 after rebate GT250 or radeon 4670.
2. Require (or make use of) more than one CPU core. A 2.6 ghz i7 will not be perceptibly faster than a $45 2.7 ghz single core Sempron. In fact, after losses to hyperthreading and core migration thanks to windows, it might even be slower.
Floating point operations like superpi are meaningless when we're talking mostly integer workload of a game client that's mostly waiting for network and server input. The heavy floating point lifting is being done by your video card, not your CPU.
I know this for a fact because I'm typing this from a 4.4 ghz i7 920 + 5850 with handpicked, tuned, low latency RAM blah blah brag brag. And this $1000 machine is in no way shape or form faster than the 3.2 ghz E2180 + 8800GT it replaced for running Eve -- a $250, 3 year old machine. Oh, and no lag on either box here pre or post patch.
Seems like user error to me. That, or you damaged something vigorously swining you epeen around the room.

Intel Centrino 2.0 GHZ CPU TOSHIBA BRAND MOTHERBOARD ATI x300 64mb GPU 1GB DDR Ram
It runs EvE at over 9000fps, and never has lag trouble!
