Last I checked the ships were fying in space not in a jumgle. Space is black and dark and cold. But yet Gallente Navy paint scheme is of Jungle Camo.
I don't get it
Obvious!
Gallente is so horrible. Its to keep you hidden after you have been shot down and crash landed on a planet.

After taking a semester in Artwork at a local college i can tell you that a lot of green camo can be very dark. If the mechanics of EVE were not so sensor based (in that you can scan ships within a specific area instantly) this would actually be an awesome scheme for lurking in systems especially some of the darker clusters of stars. It makes at least some sense to me
I honestly don't like my ships sticking out all that much in fleet engagements. Easier to hide the firepower.

It makes sense when you realise "Welcome to the Jungle" is the Gallente national anthem.

I look at Gallente these days and realise Baby Blue wasn't that bad really.

It is not camo, the Gallente designs are so organic and the ship models so old, they got all mossy.

I don't even undock my Navy Megathron since the new paintjob. I did, however, buy a Navy Dominix to replace my standard Dominix for missions, as the Dominix is fairly ugly regardless of what color it's painted.

I have kind memories of the old burly Dominix, finished in wood, resonationg with the deep sound of its engines. It changed to worse but I still keep the mental image of a fine piece of old school machinery.
Also, it was not a wreck covered in moss.

The real answer is because it suited the taste of someone at CCP. Yeah, really. When the paint scheme was first discussed in test server feed back we were given a response by CCP. "We're sorry you don't like it, but in the end it's a matter of taste". So now you know.
