Oveur has just posted an Announcement regarding the deployment of Exodus. The deployment of Exodus is being pushed back 1 week to complete testing and bug hunting.
I realize that we've missed another promised deployment date, but it is my hope that the player base will be understanding in our reasoning. Exodus is going to be a huge deployment and we would rather spend the extra week testing, troubleshooting and fixing than to take the server down numerous times for hotfixes.
The Exodus deployment is going to commence at 1000 GMT on 23 November. The deployment is slated for 24 hours. The CCP staff will be on hand throughout the deployment in case there are any issues that need immediate resolution.
Once again, I apologize for the delay and hope to be the beneficiary of your understanding.

I think I would much prefer taking an extra week and getting a better product. I support your decision for this. There are too many games that are released and way too buggy.
Dont take your gaming too serious ! |

kieron,
Please tell Oveur to take some of the cash from the massive pile he sleeps on every night and hire more programmers. You could even hire ones from India and get a 4 for 1 price savings.
Don't tell me you can't afford it.
Thanks!

On another note. Any chance you guys will be re-mirroring the accounts on sisi due to the delay? I re-activated my account recently and cannot login to test it.

I absolutely have no problem with push back dates. As long as the game comes out perfect, or near perfect instead of committing to "promised" dates, than its all good. Keep up the hard work, I am sure it will all be worth it in the end.

I've heard that it is actually worse to begin with to hire a new programmer to an existing project. You not only have a guy that is kind of useless to begin with you waste manpower in getting that guy to be useful.
Kieron you have my permission to release the expansion when you the devs say it is ready and let that be the end of this discussion. __________ Capacitor research |

Yea, but what about when programmers die? Like if that volcano up there blows iceland into the sea. They could have a CPP Bangladore division to take over the reigns. Call it BFT, Bangladore fault tolerance.

No problemo! But I think you should make it December 1st to allow enough time for people to fully test it for bugs on the test server.

Edited by: Kalissa on 12/11/2004 22:07:18 There is one upside to all these delays, expectations will be so low they'll actually meet this new deadline, that if by some miracle they do make it, people will be overjoyed
I am still looking forward to Shiva, it truely does look beautiful in the test server, but I have my doubts if we'll see it on TQ before December.

ok..so its delayed again..hmm well its ok because its good idea to fix the bugs, there is no point of releasing the incomplete version. But the only problem i have is that well.... STOP BEING SO DAMN SURE ABOUT THE DATES BECAUSE THE WAIT IS KILLING ME..ehmm so u see if you are not sure say it, plss dont confirm the release date when u have doubts its not gonna make it. ================================================== Its not the size of dog in the fight but the size of fight in the dog which matters ================================================== |

It would help testing on the Shiva server very much, if I would either have my character like he is now on Tranquility, that means with the tradeskills I learned for Shiva or (even better) if my character on the Shiva would have all skills maxed so that I would be able to test all. Like it is now, it is a waste of time for me to be on the Shiva server. Greetings Rangar |

The one thing that I do have issue with, and it is part of the reason that I have not been on there is the skill training. If you want us to test stuff thats great, but if we have to go thru all the training to do it, how can we test things? Now that all accounts are active, how will anyone be able to actualy test stuff that we are not trained to test if we need to train up the skills. Not to mention that last I looked, it was a ways behind where TQ is already, so I am not even at same level that I am on TQ. Is ther anyway that you guys can enable an auto skill trainer? Ya know, click train skill, and its done, just like that. I understand that for a while it was accelrated training, but that was gone before I got on there the first time. Fat lotta good it did me to be there testing, I could not even test all the stuff that I can on TQ, let alone all the new stuff.
Oh yeah, there is also the problem with money as well, give everyone a billion isk or something, that way there is no problems there either.
