i'm noticing a pattern ....
shiva delay increments: 4 months 1 month 2 weeks 1 week
logicaly it'll be then delayed by 4 days ... then 2 ... then 1 ... then 12 hours ....

Free
So I can expect a refund on my subsciptions for the last 18 months?
Keiron dont try to defend this by saying its free (dont get me wrong I appreciate that fact), one of the biggest selling points of this game of the last few months has been the new patch, it has kept people in the game who would normally have left. As a programmer I appreciate that deadlines mostly get missed, but 8 months beats my record by 7 months

U made again and again the same fault. You publish a date for the patch and then u need again one week or month longer. You should make it like 3drealms with Duke Nukem Forever. Give us just the info "when its done". Its better for u and for us. We are then not disappointed if u need one week longer.

Are you guys taking into consideration just how much time can be wasted consulting an icelandic to english translating dictionary. There just aren't enough interns available in iceland to manually edit every gurista's pirate log.
Every time we get a dev to reply, we waste 3-4 days of quality foriegner programming productivity dontcha know. ^>.<^

I don't pushing things back, but the bottom line is they should have had the bugs fixed way before this.I see why they delay, it's just that it shouldn't have happened anyway. The delays are disgraceful.I know a few friends who are suspending account because they are sick of waiting for Shiva. Well, look on the bright side. Half Life 2 and Shiva won't be competing
Downside is I'll probably have finished HL2 by the time Shiva comes out, so then I'll have to find something else to do with my time while Shiva's little... quirks, are worked out.

Edited by: Skarsnik on 13/11/2004 10:27:29 Well I Have a few things to say about this - and in no particular order
1) I agree that the patch should be as 'Bug Free' as possible
2) The delay was always a possibility when CCP 'Care' (and they do) so much about the game and the players
3) Please try to make the 23rd - I dont think my Employer would appreciate me moving my Booked Holiday time again
4) So far whats implemented is absolutly bang on, good job guys
5) Please CCP Ignore the whiners - just do the job right like you always seem to try, and the majority of the time succeed

I totally agree that Shiva when released should be bugs free and playable there is no fun in releasing an unfinished product. But don't u think that it will be more appropriate to stop giving exact dates? release it when you are finished, pls dont give exact release dates when you are not sure about it. ================================================== Its not the size of dog in the fight but the size of fight in the dog which matters ================================================== |

That's weird, 'cos I could swear I keep seeing payments go out on my credit card to you guys each month....
Let's get something straight here. All MMORPG's need regular content updates / expansion packs to ensure that they keep the player base interested and paying. That's the reason behind Shiva.
In the run up to Castor, the player numbers hit an all time low. The reason? People had achieved all they could in the game and it had reached the end of it's playable life for them. As Castor gets ''played out'' Shiva is needed, as Shiva gets played out Kali will be needed, and so on.
Kieron, with respect, you tell us Shiva is ''free'' as though we should in some way be grateful. the simple fact is that CCP needs Shiva as much as (if not more than) the players do. Without it interest will wane, subs will be cancelled and eventually Eve will fall by the wayside as players look for something different to do.
I've supported the delays so far as I of course want a properly finished product but we're getting into issues with credibility and trust here guys, this is starting to get silly. I no longer believe you when you tell me a date for Shiva. I didn't think you would deploy it on the 17th and I don't think you will do so on the 23rd either.
So please, stop trying to sell us on the idea that you're doing us a favour with Shiva because it's free. You're running a business and Shiva is the tool that will keep your business alive. I think it's a dangerous place for any business to be in when they begin to lose their credibility with their paying customers.

I personally do not see the problem, there is plenty to do in eve until shiva and lets face it is going to be deployed soon, so why dont you just let the guys do their job with fixing bugs and stuff and lets just eventually have a great nearly bug free expansion patch!

I disagree, the reason for low numbers was due to the poor marketing of the previous publishers (and now CCP publish themselves) and have now had lots of mentions in the computer magazines/free trails etc this is why the population has increased!
I, for one, could play Castor for another year or more without Shiva.
Take comfort in knowing that its probably some pimply faced twit, or 40 year old virgin, who gleens everytime mommy offfers to take them to needle point lessons |
