In that little pop-up tool tip that comes up when you mouse over a weapon on your hud, show the current weapon group Missle Range (maybe speed + flight time as well), Gun Optimal and falloff.
Kinda simple request but it would make alot of sense ... also make life easier for allot of people.

Edited by: halykon on 10/12/2009 15:02:33 I support this idea. Would also be nice to get a roll over for your cargo bay in space, whenever you roll over an ammo type your current guns can use, it also displays that information in the popup, of what it would be with current skills & bonuses.
And no, this isn't turning the damn game into WoW. Information is available anyway, just won't have to dig through screens to find it.

YES maybe tracking too
This would be unbelievably useful, checking your range when you change ammo / are TD'd requires a laggy show info.
The tactical overlay can already do this, but having it also just show up numerically on a tooltop would be great too. ________________

I fully support this idea. Having to get info on your guns just to refresh you memory of what the ranges are with certain ammo is a pain.

But that requires using an option that is already in the game :D ------------------------------------

so the logical thing here would be to ask that missile range be added to the tactical overlay information when you mouse over missile launchers.

Edited by: Aarin Wrath on 08/01/2010 17:14:37 Isn't the tactical overlay is 2D on the horizontal plane though? Wont help much if the ship is above you.
Edit: Even if they add missile ranges to the overlay, I would still like it displayed in the tool tip. Not everyone, eg. me, like the tactical overlay.

Turn on the tactical overlay and roll over a module (other than missiles) and you will see a sphere appear. Guns have 2 spheres, 1 is optimal, the other is fall off.

In addition to that, having separate default 'keep at range' and orbit distances per ship would be very useful. Just as it's a pain to try to remember each weapons attributes, it's also a pain to try to remember what your optimal distances are per ship.

Jup, having different svaed setting for orbit/stay at range...etc will be very nice, especialy if you change ships - like stand off and close range relative often (and if this infromation will be saved in fitting it will be great too).
And i will like to add onje another - hit probality at target that you currently shooting at.

being that i am a missile combat pilot and getting into PVP this would be incredibly helpful in many situations, especially since it takes time to change ammo i would like to see ranges for guns and missiles to the tooltip. this would reduce the time for preparring strikes and would add flare to the UI.

Idea: NOT SUPPORTED
Dam you all must be Noobs. Just use the Strategic Overlay View. It shows the range on all weapons fitted.
PS: Just for the Uber Noobs the button is next to the ôAuto Pilotö and ôSystem Scannerö button.

Edited by: Terianna Eri on 14/01/2010 23:23:26 The strategic overlay is harder to use. It's not obviously apparent whether a ship is within the sphere described depending on its position to you and you'd have to rotate the camera to make sure it was in the range, which takes a while and is annoying. TBH I have never had much use for the overlay. Zooming out is good enough for direction of ships (or just looking around) and the Overview is much more convenient for telling how far away something is.
Tooltips would be unbelievably useful for this, especially in missions where if you want to use the strategic overlay there's umpteen billion ships on the field and you have to pick out the one you're looking at.
EDIT: While we're at it, if you show info on a laser, it shows you the damage of the loaded crystal at the bottom of the info window. No other guns do this - if you want to see how much damage it does you have to go to your cargohold and check there. Annoying. ________________

Originally by: Grarr Dexx Is it really that hard to show info your weapon once and remembering the range? Howmany different weapons are you fitting?
My Paladin has 4x Tachyon Beam Laser IIs fit, and 2x Tracking Computer IIs. I carry a number of different crystals for the former (Multifreq, Gamma, X-Ray, Ultraviolet, Aurora) and the latter can be scripted for range, tracking, or both. Additionally in missions against Sanshas I find myself getting Tracking Disrupted in various amounts.
An easier way to tell what my current range is, since remembering it is often non-trivial, would be greatly appreciated - and that's just for PVE. While in PVP the range of a given ship doesn't usually vary (only one or two ammo types and not usually changing TC scripts), being able to look up the range at a glance is kinda helpful. For example if I were in a projectile boat it would help me judge the point at which I might change from barrage to faction EMP or such.
And how many weapons am I fitting among all of my ships? Quite a lot and keeping track of all that kinda sucks, and it's annoying that the only ways I have to remind myself is to either use the tactical overlay (which I don't find useful or clear) or take the time to right-click, wait for the show info window to load, scroll down, etc...
You can set up the overview to display distance, velocity, angular velocity, whatever you want, and being able to quickly compare those values against the values of your weapons would be really nice. ________________
