The (annoying) situation: An intense PvP battle where you are called primary. Instantly, you are targeted by 20 drones, and because you CHOOSE to keep auto-target for your own being-targeted references (in before: Turn auto-lock off* ) your target row is instantly filled up with all those little drones that you must now manually unlock one by one.
The solution: I propose adding a button on the nav panel (perhaps on the far right to prevent accidental clicks) to 'Drop All Target Locks.' It's a simple solution that will prove handy for any situation, be it PvP or PvE.
* I understand Turn auto-lock off, but as I stated, it is for reference. It is handy to know which player is targeting you immediately, especially if you are an interceptor/EAF/tackler pilot. Auto-lock gives the player a slight heads-up of the (unfortunate) event ahead.
Remember, I am not proposing anything other than adding a 'Drop All Target Locks' button, similar to the Fitting Window's 'Strip Fitting' button. And we all know how handy that button is!

I think that's more like a need for a don't auto-lock drones.

Yes, a simple [] in Options would be great for that! We can already ignore their models, why not? ......,,,,,,,,;;;;;;;;;;;;:::::::::::://///////// |

This would be a great option actually. Especially when I fly logistics I often end up with a lot of people locked that I need to unlock and with 5+ that is a PITA to do manually.
Will bring it up as 'minor issue' in next csm meeting.

That would be nice, but in a larger ship, unlocking the drones is only half the problem. The other half, of course, is that you get to spend 48 seconds watching the drones get locked. I want to be able to cancel locking before it's finished.

Edited by: Soden Rah on 14/12/2009 00:27:51 I don't use auto target back but there is the odd ocasion where you target the wrong thing and can't stop targeting it till you have actually locked, it has been said before but a stop targeting option would be nice... Just a thought. (and a drop all targets button would be nice) also if your adding in options to the auto target back feature, how about don't target back alliance/fleet members options?

Eh, I don't mind that. I believe in friendly-fire and that it's one's responsibility to actively recognize who he is firing at. Besides, it always proves to be an interesting fleet/voice chat!

yeah i think this would be a great idea for a Drop All Targets button. itd be cool for when you need to quickly switch to a new set of targets instead of unlocking each one by one.

Eve could use some better target management features in general, like the proposed "unlock all", but I sometimes miss the ability to move locked targets around in the row .. or have a toggle to have either friendly or hostile at the top/beginning for logistics purposes.
Where is the IFF systems in these advanced space-rigs we are flying anyway? Surely such a mechanism survived the fall of man
PS: @OP - Remove the lock back feature
