...wtb: more unique ships like this and the Apotheosis. Ships that are made by off-the-wall corporations like Intaki Syndicate and have some unique design and function, like the Zephyr does. People have gone back and forth about the idea of every race having one or two unique ship classes, and Nova Fox can tell you all about the idea of having dedicated SoE science ships. Id like to see maybe 1 new ship every 1-2 months.. not game changing/overpowered ships.. just unique in design and purpose..
id love to see..
- scout/travel ship, basicly a shuttle, no slots.. but with some insane speeds ..maybe 3-4km/s - Hi-sec transport something in between industrials and freighters, with no slots - low lvl command ship, a cruiser that grants a small bonus to the gang.. 2-5% hp etc.. does not stack with command ships - a salvage destroyer, with a little added tractorbeam range and a bonus to salvagers and cargo - smuggler ship, frigate hull.. with an added chance of not beeing catched by customs - ecm-drone ship, frig/cruiser hull with room for 5 light ecm drones, and added bonuses. for small scale pvp - ship with bunuses to tracking links/remote sensor boosters
as such ships with single roles, and maybe quite fragile.. are only given out once to each account.. i dont see it as gamebraking

Gamebreaking isn't always the issue. They are either cheap reskins of existing models or require actual effort. CCP is notoriously reluctant to make new designs, since the people doing them seem to be always busy with other projects. That required effort means forget about your ship/month fantasy. I don't really see why you wouldn't want to make some of the ships on your list into regular ships anyway, instead of one per account gifts.

Yeah, just look at the Interbus Shuttle, pretty lame considering it was part of a limited edition game box release. A repainted Gallente Shuttle :/

Or just upgrade industrials to get a much larger cargo boost per level, so that at level 5, the industrials fill this role.
Quote: - low lvl command ship, a cruiser that grants a small bonus to the gang.. 2-5% hp etc.. does not stack with command ships
Command ships already don't stack with each other. Whichever valid booster has the best bonus, is the one whose boost is applied. But I'd like to see different boosts than what the existing CS do. 5% Falloff for the Minmatar, 5% Optimal for the Amarr, 5% missile Velocity for the Caldari, and 5% Drone damage for the Gallente.
Quote: - smuggler ship, frigate hull.. with an added chance of not beeing catched by customs
Or just make my *devhax* Black Market Trading skill work again. Maybe it never worked, but it's no longer in the game today.
Quote: - ship with bonuses to tracking links/remote sensor boosters
The Minmatar and Gallente logistics already have a bonus to tracking links, but remote sensor booster bonuses would be fan-frickin-tastic.

Enjoy
Essentially it is a free probing frigate, which does not get attacked by NPCs in the same way that they don't attack pods.
---------- There is always a choice. The choice might not be easy, nor simple, nor the options be what you desire - but, nevertheless, the choice is there to be made. |

You should really be more specific, otherwhise we'll get lots of whining upon release.
NPC's won't attack in WH space, but everywhere else it's just a normal ship.

Cool any other stats on it, will it have any slots at all apart from its 1 high slot for its special probe launcher, will it have a spare slot and enough CPU to fit a proto cloak?
Being immune to sleeper NPC's is one thing but you kinda need to be able to hide from other players too >.>
Maybe give it a high slot with a cloak bonus that gives it just enough CPU to fit cloaks but not anything else :) Rally Against Evil Site |

To be even more specific Sleepers will not attack it. Sounds like any other NPC will have at it if they see it.

Unless you do what Benco97 said in Herzogs's thread about the Zephyr. Which was, having someone warp in on a lone Zephyr in a WH and find that it is surrounded by a few Sleeper BS's, cruisers, and warp scramming frigs

Well, the Zephyr has an inertia mod of 1000. A shuttle is 1 A frigate (Rifter) is 2.15 some change, and it just goes down from there.
Think you can catch this thing before it warps?

Higher inertia modifier is worse for your ship, all things being equal.
However, inertia modifier alone means nothing. You also need to take into account mass.

If the Zephyr really has a "tiny sensor footprint", it's going to be very hard to target, and very difficult to scan down at a safe spot.
Of course, it could still be smartbomb fodder.

This is something I've wanted to see in Eve since the very beginning. Ships obtained through weird sources, that function weirdly and look weird. Ships that come out quietly, become available to only a handful of people, and confuse the hell out of everyone else.

110% agree.
I'd love to see all kinds of weird ships designed by entities other than the main factions. I'd like to see science ships, new and different types of shuttles, hell, even garbage scows, I just want to see new types of interesting ships.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't get them as special presents, because that's cool too, I'm just saying I'd like to see more ships that aren't necessarily designed by major factions and aren't necessarily useful in the normal roles of combat, hauling, or mining. I think they'd be fun and add immersion and flavor.
I also support each faction having a few unique ship-types or overall more variation between the main four factions.
I'll probably never use the zephy for its intended role, since I'd probably eventually lose it and as a compulsive collector, that'd make me a sad panda, so I'll probably just keep in my hangar as a museum piece like my Apotheosis.

I like the idea of the Zephyr, but I'd also like to see a re-skinned version available for production after a limited time (6 months to a year).
This is the perfect ship for new players to try out wormholes, and more people exploring other parts of the game (especially parts that lead to PVP) is good for Eve. So, keep the Zephyr exclusive, but make a slightly uglier version for future players. Either introduce the T1 BPO, make it inventable from shuttle BPOs, or have BPCs drop from exploration (maybe the exploration tutorial). --------------------------------- The Seven- Blowing up someone near you. |
