Having now been on the test server many times and having received A LOT of feedback from my Corp members, as well as having read much on the subject.
CCP has an awesome game and I for one would like to see it kept that way!! I do not want to see the Shiva expansion roll out as a disappointment or a disaster.
I would like to know how many of you out their would agree that CCP should take more time to get it done right the first time it goes live. Yes their will be bugs, but as it stands now I do not believe that CCP can finish the expansion and still have it live up to all the ôhypeö in only another week.
I am sure I may get flamed for this, but I would fully support CCP delaying the game another full month considering the current state of things on the test server.
DonÆt get me wrong, it looks awesome and has a massive amount of VERY cool new features and content.
Some examples of items not yet on the test server or totally messed up that I consider important. (proly the wrong place for this, but within the context).
1) Corp Tax system is incomplete, non existent, and more or less useless. Their should be no ôcapö on %. The tax for each item being taxed needs to be better defined.
2) Corp divisional wallets and accounting. Not working, non existent.
3) Corp rolls, remove a role from a player and the permissions that are bonded to that roll donÆt come off of the player. MAJOR security flaw and admin nightmare. Basically makes titles/rolls worthless.
4) New complexes are SEVERLY bugged, especially where they are located.
5) About 500 basic buggs that were squashed on the live server months ago.
6) Player owned stations nearly not worth the cost of building/maintaining. Although I am very pleased with their firepower (currently), lol. Between the lag and the firepower a fleet of even 60 battle ships dont have a chance in hell of taking down a fully fitted station. Their defend ability gives me hope that they may be worth the cost.
I am not flaming CCP. I think what they have made with the Shiva expansion is nothing short of incredible. I simply thing we as a community need to tell them that it is ok for them to take more time.
We know that CCP is dedicated to EvE and its player base, lets give them some ôslackö and take some of the pressure off of them for a while.
Sincerely -CYVOK- CEO. Celestial Horizon Corp.

If 60 BS can't take down a fully fitted station, then they are way too overpowered, considering a small corp of 5 ppl can keep em going no problem.

That's what this extra week is for, more balancing. I say implement it and do a rollback if anything goes seriously wrong (somebody discovers a way to dupe billions).
I'd really like to see the patch deployed and see what happens although my prediction is that it will probably be released on December 16th, exactly a year after Castor.

I don't think you need to worry about CCP panicking and release the expansion before they deem it is ready. So far they have pushed back every deadline so I doubt they listen to much about our whining and so it should be. If the expansion won't be ready on the 23rd it probably won't be released on the 23rd. __________ Capacitor research |

Shiva looks awesome. It runs awesome for me (a lot better than the TQ build right now acutally, despite the occasional graphical glitch).
I can't wait for release, but at the same time I'm not sure that one week is enough time to deal with the issues. I got very stuck in a pocket of deadspace last night that forced me to go 15 jumps out of my way to get around it because it was so close to the gate. This is the kind of thing that alone could have pushed back the release date again.
I want Exodus to be great and I don't know if one week is enough time (less than that now). CCP has shown that they won't release a bad one and that if they think it needs to wait, it will wait despite the pressure we think we can exert on them. I would like to say that I would full support pushing it back again, despite the pain that it places upon my heart. ---------------------------------

Count me in! I am for delaying the release as long as it is necessary, only ****ty titles are supposed to be released on time These Big ones have a favour of showing up even one year later (vide Half Life2) so take your time and impress us with almost bug free Exodus release.
Good luck guyz. IBTL (always wanted to do that ).

If most of the major bugs are ironed out then I say go ahead with it. Balancing issues will take time to get right and that is something that is going to need testing within a environment with a larger player base.
Remember what they said about Sis? It was supposed to be a 3000+ player test environment yet how many people are on them testing it out? +-200 at any given time! Unless more players decide to help out with testing the new build and also helping out with the stress testing things are not going to be good as a lot of people will expecte and then I say the only people you can blame for that would be the players who did not help out.

Have you actually TRIED keeping a POS running ? Feeding it with consumables ? Its not as easy as you may think. Besides, all the 60 BS have to do is blockade it for 24 hours and it offlines itself dues to lack of consumables.....

I am tired of waiting.....DROP featuers.....
I BET a lot on that we WOUNT see shiva or what ever they will renamed it for this time released before jan-feb next year..
they simply took too many features into this patch so it takes to long time to remove the bugs....crap :(
they should have taking this in small steps instead...Shiva looks like a whole new game...

Can't you keep a POS control tower going for days now with the 250k m3 cargo space it has? You could also store industrials full of consumables at the station, which would keep it going for a couple more days. Auction your items for isk, works sort of like ebay. |

Damn the torpedos and full speed ahead, Gimmie the patch now.
A joke ofcourse, I've seen what buggy patches can do and don't want to go down that road again.
I have to say though, I've been on the test server quite a lot and haven't had many problems.

There's alot of issues (not bugs) that make me never want to visit the test server again. Might be reasons for the small numbers there. Its hard to find equipment and stuff to test there, is the biggest one. Who wants to fly around for 2 hours fitting a ship, only to test it for 10 minutes.

I concurr, they are giving us a new game practically, which castor did aswell almost but not to the extent that EVE: Exodus will.
I am glad we are getting such an overhaul to our game, plus its free too which is a bonus, that some of us have been playing for almost 2 years soon (beta)
I just wish i could get on the test server, sisi, to check things out. I am confident ccp will do what they have been doing for the past few years and keep bringing us a game worth paying and playing.
Incidentally, a release on the 16th of December would be ironic :)

There is still numorous bugs and tweaking that needs to be completed. I do not belive in roling out a product if its not ready. If it is roled out now and things start getting tuned/nerfed people will complain. Exodus needs to be delayed till all features that have been promised can be implimented and tested. CCP is on the right steps with shiva the GUI, graphics, and features that the dev's have devloped will be a breath of fresh air to the game when tweaded and rolled out.

Edited by: hired goon on 15/11/2004 14:38:35 I agree. Take as much time as needed dev team.
Also, nobody has the right to demand anything now now now, Because this expansion is free. ------------

NP with waiting another month if it means more problems will be sorted. Also with the dev server now open we all need to help CCP in making EXODES bug free and a great experience for everyone.
Keep up the good work CCP !

i only have one thing to say to all of this
ccp, bring it out when you think's it's ready to be released, those that complain u keep putting it off don't usually see the bigger picture so just do what u think is right!
P.S please look in on the projectiles post in ship's and modules, it's getting rather big again, we could do with a word or 2
this post was funded by Quafe now available in minmatar red. try our new product. Quafe's caldari version "press missiles 4TW" limited sales offer before the next universal improvement |

I'm definately signing on the bottom line on this one, CCP take a good look at what just a few of your customers are saying out loud to you and realize, that of course, this is not a majority but this is considered a VERY important business decision you will have to make.
We all love you and your work, testified by the number of old players and even new ones as well. WE have quite a few players who are taking a hiatus with a thought to returning with this expansion too. I say we because that's what this is, a collaborative and symbiotic relayionship between you and us, developer-GM-ISD/customers-players.
I think it's a matter of realizing that in the end, at the end of the day, you will have a feeling greater accomplishment by doing the right thing. However you decide what should happen. And by saying doing the right thing, I mean going with what your heart tells you and not letting other factors influence. I can also understand from a business standpoint though, that sometimes it will deffo be complicated.

I agree here. There are just so many basic gameplay bugs that have come up, or back up as the case may be, that a release now will be a bloody mess. Not a good scenario with so many of the highly anticipated new games coming out soon.

I'm having fun in the game as is, if people wanna go to WoW etc.. let em.. I'm a space-nut so I'll likely be here till they shut down the servers and yank the keyboard out of my cold-dead hands.
Take your time, I'd MUCh rather Exodus be quality and relatively bug free, then have it a week or so early.
Something is only impossible when you refuse to try

An incentive for testing would be nice, as is now I'd say most people prefer to spend their time where it counts.

I am signing this pettition!
CCP needs tounderstand that fans of EVE like myself are understanding. We recognize the potential EVE has, and while we get disapointed by pushed back release dates, those are far better than having a game we like go down the toilet due to a bad patch.
Sure, I like most other reasonable souls, will accept some patch week bugs, and other crap that comes with ALL major game changes like this. Those are to be expected.
BUT I also cannot see how one extra week of testing will fix the issues I am reading about on the forums, and being told about by friends.
But here is the biggest danger. It's christmas season...
CCP has to make an executive descisions here:
Release shiva in time for the holiday push, and thus get some more cash?
OR release post holidays, and Watch numbers drop off while players play other games?
Well, here is a word of warning CCP.
IF you release right now, and the patch isn't perfect, I for one will be playing World of warcraft instead ANYWAY, and if the patch is REALLY broken and WOW is good, I won't even resubscribe till after winter out of disgust.
So which would you prefer? See people play other games, while they wait for Exodus? Or play other games because Exodus sucked?
Think about it...
Anyway, We'll see... I'm crossing my fingers... But I agree... Push back the release another month at least and give Exodus everything you got!

I simply don't get this petition, sure ppl want a stable release, but don't you think CCP will delay Shiva themselves without a petition, they've done it so far??!?!?!?
I understand your point but not the reason for a petition....Should be more like "Always add a month to your most pessimistic release date"
"No, I'm not alt.....even if I have been in Pator Tech School for 2 years..." |

Well, skaz see that's the thing, I think the topic starter had it in mind, that a petition is the easiest and quickest way for US, as in all of us players/customers to vocally let CCP know exactly how we feel at this current point in time regarding this expansion. Good old two-way communication, only we might have to forgive them if they slack a little on their side being crunch-time and all.
It's a given for them, the devs, that they know we all wanted this sooner(TM), but, I could tell you If I was one of the developers, I would definately be interested in looking out for exactly this type of posting on the forums. Especially the attitudes and opinions of my playerbase as this the next big step forward.
