I got attacked yesterday by a CA pilot named Three at a gate while in a Mammoth, he was in Crow. I was seconds from entering warp and didn't have WCS but I was thinking if I had had 2 WCS I could have easily survived due to my insta and even if he had warped the instant I did to chase me he couldn't have fired on me at all due to the no modules in warp thing.
I was inspired to write this just now when I warped accidentally with a Mega and stayed with him the whole way, I even tried locking him etc but obviously I couldn't.
Whats the thinking behind the no modules activated during warp thing? If you could follow ships during a warp you could have some pretty cool in warp battles and balance out the WCS / Insta Jump problem while still allowing fast insta-jump travel.
In fact if you had in warp combat enabled you could do away with the 15k warp in range because most of the interception would occur during the warp chase and combat would occur once you managed to lock and scramble the ship so it drops out of warp before it even gets close to the gate.
I'm thinking any ship that has the capability to align to your warp parameters in time before you warp after issuring an intercept command on the target ship should be able to enter warp with you for various hostile reasons.
So how come we can't do this?

Edited by: Enraku Reynolt on 15/11/2004 05:34:36 might stop all the whining about insta jumps too
and it might be cool to see alot of derbis and the loot can droping out of warp ------------------------------------------------ Do not let the world change you. Change the world

sounds intresting, maybe they would make intys warp faster so they would be able to intercept ordinary frigs 2..

And the warp is supposed to screw up your sensors, which is why you lose lock just before people enter warp. However if in warp combat became possible BS's would have to be fitted with lots of WCS. As a tackling frig would be able to fairly easy follow a BS into warp. --------------------------------------------------

well the modulas are not constructed to operate in warp.
Like your missiles flys max 2,5km/s. Your Hybrids, Lasers and Projectiles fly only with lightspeed. What happen if i Webb someone in Warp? What happen if i use my MWD in warp? Or if i warpscramble someone in warp?
Too many questions, too many coding. Better let it be as it is. _____________________________________ Dead or Alive

ok probably for turret users would be possible, even when the tracking should suffer. But missileships like Ravens will be totatly screwed. Because travlingspeed during warp is 3 AU for BS. Faster than any missile could fly.
Even if the missile would be 3 AU fast when fired, the engines of it wont be able to maintain that speed and will drop out of warp.
Imo it would be cool if you could drop someone out of warp with a device like the MWD. But MWD only works in same grid :( Would be cool if you could setup a trap between 2 warpoints :P _____________________________________ Dead or Alive

The chances of warping at the same time with another ship are slim. Unless of course you do a gang warp.
Don't forget, warp drive activation uses alot of energy, therefor "disabling" most onboard systems. It is not technically possible to do something of the sort.

just an update , it does happen. It happened to me about 4 months ago i sent in a petition and screenshots and was told "sometimes the npcs can follow you between places" this was before the changes where your shield/armour hardeners would stay on in warp, lucky me chose a large system to warp across so got popped mid warp , still never found the can. Tho my corp all had a chuckle about it im still unsure if it was a bug.

It was a bug, I have had it happen to me, but only with small rats. --------------------------------------------------
