And the simple fact is that Eve has never been any different. And come to think of it most MMO's are no different after an expansion either...
Therfore the complaints are just that, cry babys, hollow threats and ignorance.

Yay, it's Friday night...I have a free night to play EvE finally....oh, the DT just got extended by an hour....again....
Come on CCP - wake up to the fact that you have customers in TZ's other than US and Europe and move the DT back two hours. Look at your own charts and see that it's the right thing to do. make your game a truely International game instead of a predominantly EU & US game.
Well said mate, and same here.....my Friday night of EVE playing is out the door. A TZ change debate should be discussed!!
The bulk of their customers are EU/US. Why should they cater to the minority of customers? --- |

Edited by: Navtiqes on 18/12/2009 13:01:47 Dear CCP Tuxford,
I'm adressing you cause experience has taught us all who's in charge around here.
When you're having trouble with the downtime and you announce when the servers will be back up; Up in 30min, up in 45min, up in 55min - That's baiting. You can compare it to tieing a thousand dollar bill to a string and dragging it through a park while some poor kids are stumbling after it. Basically that's what you're doing here with us.
Save us all the grief and please just say: The servers will be back up in 3 hours - And then surprise us when you managed to fix it ahead of time.
Capische?
Add addamentum: I don't really care. I just needed something to type about while waiting for the planets to align and allow connections to the server ;)

Its just a shame that CCP haven't learnt how to give realistic ETA's on issues, sure issues happen then they say oh it will only be 15 mins, then its oh sorry its taking a little longer it will be another 30 mins then that comes and goes still no service.
If they had originally said to people, "Sorry guys complicated issue popped up we are on it now expect it to be back with in 2 hours" Then when the servers come back up early people are happy, CCP staff don't have so much pressure of "OMG Fix it NOWZ!!1!" and if the issue takes a little longer then they can just get on with it.
I wouldn't mind if this was a one off but it happens all the time, and it ends up with upset customers because CCP are setting themselves up to fail buy not giving realistic ETA's.

LOL
You know what is worse than an extended downtime? An extension of the extension. Everyone is unhappy about an extended downtime, but they get really annoyed if that extension is extended and besides that it makes you look pretty bad also.
I don't get it. You guys at CCP make over and over and over the same mistake.
Example: Your tech guys say "we need 1 hour more!" then you community guys should say "Downtime is extended by 2 hours."
So if the tech guys were right and they only needed one hour then you can startup 1 hour earlier and everyone will be happy and say "woah, great guys they work so hard that they made the downtime even 1 hour shorter, awesome!".
But if your tech guys were wrong and they need more time, then you have more time, no big deal. And no one will pressure you and whine.
However ... if you say "1 hour downtime" and the tech guys need more then you need to extend the extension, everyone will yell and scream "waaah wahh, incompetent people, ccp sucks, money back rabble quit eve rabble rabble". And your tech guys will be under a lot more pressure. That is fail.
Really, you can only lose if you say 30 minutes extension, then 45 minutes, then 55. Just say 2 hours and all is fine. |

I bumped against the 5 minute time flux...
One read was enough - you're not going to give me that Zephyr, are you?
Remember, I warned how difficult it is to detect sarcasm from the typed word.
And BTW - all fire, police and emergency rescue calls will now need a three day advance notice.
I think correcting problems as soon as recognized while building a game in progress is their business. Obviously, I'm not happy with delays, but I still fly commercial airlines.

In the middle of the day I get this extended-extended and now just delayed DT...
The cluster is not currently accepting connections

CCP please give a -100% bonus to SP learning time so people will whine a bit less if they can't play. And do not let the office cleaners touch the servers, they don't need to be shiny, just up and running, thank you.
