Im looking to move into a bigger, tankier, boat, and i figured i would go with a SNI tank to help my 2 irl friends do their lvl4 missions. The goal of this build was to be tanky, not blitz, or put out insane dps. I am mostly going for a stable AFK tank while my friends lay some dps/salvage/etc.. The reason i choose this is because i am so bored of my drake i want to enjoy myself visually for a bit. My skills are not to the level of being able to fully tech 2 fit. The only thing i really can't T2 fit is Drones and Launchers.
Would this do its job as a mission tank? (the 2 speciffic hards will be swapped for missions i just picked em and thermal for *****. ) |

Drop a mid (your choice, really, but I'd drop one of the invulns) for a painter. You're solidly overtanked and the painter will help both you and your friends apply more damage to the target. |

Am i over tanked HP regen wise or resistance wise? I wouldn't mind dropping to a cheaper shield booster but it seemed worth it considering the tank i get from it. If you know a cheaper version of this fit that would get the job done by all means please post up |

can i just leave the 4 hards and drop the regen amount? -say a cald navy booster instead amount? more resistances for lack of regen etc...? Ive mostly always passive tanked so active tanking is quite new... |

I personally hate doing the whole fly a tengu thing but I think it might be more fun. The standard HML variant, no. A HAM Tengu though will probably be a bit of fun while still allowing you to tank and be active in missions. Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. I went ahead and changed it to what you said also dropped the shield booster to something less pocket heavy. EFT reads with my skills atm 97 / 518 defence. Not cap stable, can sustain it for 2min 15seconds. I tried playing around with implants to see if it helped make it a bit more cap stable but no luck. I was hoping for atleast a 10-15min tank sustain if anything. I guess this is what i get for passive tanking this whole time. Now im about as clueless as can be to active tanking. Im debating to just say **** it and keep going with my drake. |

couple of things quik no 4 BCU last one dose nothing put some thing else little over tanked you wont need that much like DCU, 2 mision hardners no to navy scorp......you posted this publicly and are going to fly it with your friends only to bring them woe.
just do a rokh or a raven, if your all the same tank type spider tank. It's that simple and ez I am in Factional Warfare. Have been from day one.-á-áI will never work for a mega corp in null-sec. Do not make FW like null-sec. Were is the FW exclusive frigate sized ship? I see the cruiser and battle ship.......... |

Invest in Republic target painters, not to expensive for faction stuff.
remove one harderner for a Cap booster Place a drone link augumentor in your free high slot.
and I'd remove 1 rigor for a flare |

SNI is an amazing ship. I personally prefer it to the Navy Raven. This fit I use against Guristas; invest in Caldari Navy BCUs and faction missiles, maybe RepFleet painter.

Ahh yes the SNI is a great ship. Probably one of the best caldari new player mission running ship. Anyone who says get a CNR right away really does not know what they are talking about. Or else they are with there skill points all put to lvl 5 in the needed areas to tank well and hit hard with the CNR. I personally got away from the drake to fly a SNI. The tank and the gank I could get out of the SNI with only a little skill points invested into it was amazing where with the drake I would have had to put another 2 months to get to where I am at doing lvl fours with my SNI.
Now it really depends on what you want to do. Personally I say invest in Caldari navy Cruise launchers and Caldari Navy BCUs. you can go tech 2 Cruise launchers if you want to put the time into it but you get alot more gank out of the caldari in the end because you spend less time reloading and more time shooting. Tech 2 cruise missiles really suck unless just hitting battle ships. and your burrning alot of extra isk when you could just run regular ammo.
This is what I run
high 6 Caldari cruise launchers 1 Drone link Augmenter
Mid 4 Mission specific hardeners( you may need to go to 5 or might be able to drop to 3 depending on your skills) 2 Republic Target painters(you may only be able to handle 1 if you have 5 hardeners or run 3 if you use 3 hardeners) 1 x-large ancillary shield booster caps 400 1 shield boost amplifier
Low 4 Caldari navy BCUs
5 Hornets II 5 Hammers II
Yes the fit is very expensive but if you plan on missioning here and there all the time the Caldari faction iteams are worth it. Because once you get skilled out well you can also use them on you CNR when you feel you can start running missions with that. |

I ran level 4s in a standard raven till I had the LP to buy a navy raven, and I did it all with 700k sp in missiles (512k in missile bombardment 5)! sod off with your navy scorps (oh yea, navy scorps didn't exist then either)! imo as long as you've ran every mission a few times in a standard raven the next step is clearly the cnr. you don't need the extra tank and the extra dps is awesome.
with high skills, t2 launchers, and rigor rigs fury ammo is awesome
and anyways if you just wanna tank stuff why not just throw a cheap xl booster and a ton of cap mods on? or maybe get a passive tanked rattlesnake? |

the best thing you can do is slap on a x-large booster and a cap booster. you will be alot less likely to be ganked then strolling around with a pith-a medium booster. x-large + cap booster also allows you to get rid of those crappy cap recharges and either fit utility (such as target painters) or more tank (hardeners whatever)
tl;dr SNI has an awesome tank and there is no need to throw deadspace mods on it to mission! |

Thanks i really don't like the thought of using anci boosters for missions myself or fitting it with insanely expenssive mods if you can get it done cheaper.
After reading all the posts i came up with this...
3x BCU II 1x DC II
2x EM hardner II 2x Thermic hardners II 1x Shield boost amp II 1x Caldari X-L Booster 2x Painters
6x Arby Cruises 1x Drone Link
3x Large Warhead Rigor
Rigs: 1x Flare Cat 2x Rigor
I run amarr missions for the most part so em thermal is mostly it. I am working on my caldari agents now. My biggest fear with this setup is that i only have 1 minute of sustain with my skills. Since my experience with active shield tanking is almost non existant im guessing high resists and manual boosting at the right times will be just fine? Obviously i wouldn't expect to sustain an xl burning my cap but at the same time would 1 minute be ok?

Drop a painter/1x Shield boost for a cap booster , take it off once you feel you've mastered all the missions and there was no need for cap boosting . safety always |

With that booster, you can take just about any ship and be overtanked and capstable at the same time. So fly whatever you want. My reaction to the tier system and skill tree overhaul https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=899560#post899560 |

The best way to help your gIRLfriends in completing missions faster is to fit a (Tornado, Naga, Oracle or Talos) for max gank, let one of them be a punchingbag in a Drake, and then slaughter the rats with your incredible DPS - not to bring yet another overtanked punching bag to the mission and spend too long motoring between acceleration gates.

Just on a side note, and not to detract from the topic, but why exactly would someone select to use a Rattler over an SNI in missioning, anyway? The only benefit I could possibly see would be the huge drone bay, and that would only be useful in L4's with sick drone skills. Maybe someone could edjumacate me. :) |

Sometimes you need to focus your attention elsewhere, so you reach for the Rattlesnake. |

use 2 x-large ancil boosters and you can have a 4.5k ish burst tank (with crystal set) or a 2.25k sustained tank until you run out of cap booster which you shouldn't. (sustained tank would be use 1 booster till it reloads then use other while the first reloads). tank stats is an omni tank with passive hardners + 1 invuln. Welcome to a ship that can now ACTIVE tank LVL5 missions solo and for the total cost of about 400mil at most. |

3x Ballistic Control System II Damage Control II
2x Large Processor Overclocking Unit I Large Warhead Flare Catalyst I
Stats(all lvl5 and low grade crystal set): -576dps (not counting drones) -4,035dps omni tank (half it for the amount of 1 booster running) -3,487dps tank with invuln off (that's 1.7k dps tank with 1 booster which is plenty for most lvl5s)
Description:
With this fit + LG crystal set you can tank all lvl5s with an omni tank (if you know what your doing, only most if you don't). dps is mediocre but for cruise missiles you can't expect much more. Now the reason there is a invuln + heavy nuet is for if you get caught outside the mission site and need to fight for your life!! Also in some lvl5 missions you will have some cap so you can use the invuln as well. the main concern when running lvl5 missions is getting ganked by pirates, while the awesome omni tank of this fit probably won't save you it will atleast let you put up one hell of a fight!
p.s. I didn't put drones in this fit. Use whatever drones you prefer but have atleast 1 flight of light drones to help kill frigates |
