I just placed this petition:
My Wife wanted to do something nice for me today, so she bought me an eve time card from your site instead of an eve time code from evetimecode.com.
Your site charges the same from a time card as a time code... no issue there, however there is nothing said about the $18.69 charge for shipping and handling until the charge for the time card has been processed. Either this is a CCP oversight or you are deliberately deceiving the community.
My wife emailed and called your company to cancel the order, however her email and phone calls have not been returned.
It costs $ 0.42 for a stamp to ship an envelope. You can send that same package fedex Ground for 2 day service that for about $ 5.00. Your shipping costs for a card are outrageous. Why on earth would I need FedEx Priority service, if I needed it now I would by it from evetimecode.com.
The order number is XXXXX, placed by XXXXXX XXXXXX.
I need this order canceled immediately.
I may be contacted at XXX-XXX-XXXX
Thank you for you assistance in this matter.
I live in NJ and the card is being shipped from Atlanta, GA.
I just want the community to know that ordering a card costs almost $20.00

Edited by: Jameroz on 19/12/2009 00:32:07 The FedEx deal the store has sucks big time I'd recommend Battleclinic and Shattered Crystal for your time code needs. I presume you used the contact details provided at the store FAQ The message on the store front page says orders will not be handled between December 17th and January 3rd

For lulz i went to poke the site because surely no company can not let you know the cost of shipping prior to payment so i had a look and guess what i saw
Bolded the important looking part in pink for you, so they do let you estimate shipping and that box is added to the screen once you hit "Add to cart" btw Rally Against Evil Site |

Originally by: Lion ElJonson i am just disgusted with the straight up deceit from CCP on their shipping costs. Obviously if they post their shipping costs no one will order anything.
How about this CCP, .44 cent stamps... case of white envelopes from staples, Temp to stuff envelopes, US Mail.
Cant be sure, but are u blaming CCP for this? , sounds like the site u ordered from is doing this not CCP and the fact they havnt returned your calls (the Timecode store right, not CCP HQ) seems to emply the badness of the place and yea Evetimecodes, Battlclinic and my personal one Shatteredcryistal seem like the real deal.
Anyway hope it gets sorted in time for christmas, or just after so the wife doesnt catch u on eve during christmas day

That's weird... long ago I was about to order a GTC from the eve store but stopped when I noticed the shipping charge in the order summary you get before you click confirm order... I think you're blaming CCP because your wife can't read

I checked that without going through with the purchase, there is no mention of shipping costs. Either way I should still be able to cancel the order that was placed at 10:30 am this morning and canceled immediately afterword.

I live in Europe (Austria) and shipping costs for one GTC would be over $40 to my place. http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/8395/evestore.jpg
That means I'd pay more for shipping than for the actual item. Sounds odd, probably is odd...

Now that's some intense thinking I can agree with.
However, I can understand how the O.P. would be angry, and for the life of me I can't figure out why CCP wouldn't allow you to select alternative methods of delivery that would be slightly less insanely expensive.

Given that the costs are ridicilouse, it's still your wifes fault.
Ordering something from the store looks more like beeing scammed than buying some merchandise. I am pretty sure CCP would sell more stuff if they would sort their shipping prices. People have complained for years about those on the forums.

What i dont get is why CCP havent opened an EVE store in Europe, as they would get as much trade from it as the US store gets. If only because the shipping costs will be so much cheaper for us on this side of the pond.
After all whos going to spend $40 on shipping for a $20 tea-shirt, not to mention that theres also the VAT to add on to the costs as well.

I must agree with the op.
Especially ridiculous are those people who are yelling that those are the costs to ship from iceland. However ...
...who says that they need to ship from Iceland??
What do they have an office for in Atlanta? They should be able to handle those things easily for those people in North-America. Now don't tell me that it would be such a big strain on them that it would be too expensive. That is not believable in the least.
Pretty ridiculous and VERY BAD customer support. Also not the first time that people complain about those stupid shipping prices. And as I said, don't come with the argument that shipping is that expensive. It is an invalid argument and shows only very limited point of view. |

While I agree that your wife should have looked at shipping charges closer, people reading this need to keep in mind that this didn't take place in eve where we have no pitty on those that don't read contracts.
Other than the fact that CCP has outrageous shipping prices, any company that ships items should have the basic customer services such as exchange, refund, return, and canceling an order. I'd done this with several places, who, if contacted before my order was shipped, had no problem stopping it.
So yes, your wife should have read closely. However, CCP should also respond to the email (assuming she sent it to the right place) and phone calls and should have no issues fixing this problem. I guess you'll see. If it doesn't turn out then it was a small waste of money and you'll know never to buy a physical item from CCP again.

Lion, if CCP doesn't respond then contact your credit card company and file a "dispute" on the charge. Typically what will happen is the CC company will send you documentation. You fill that out, send it back. If they agree the refund the charge to you and charge back the amount from CCP.....in effect it's a refund. The CC companies will typically side with the consumer. Seeing that the shipping charge appears inflated in my opinion and, as you say, CCP didn't disclose the shipping charge prior to processing, then I would say you have grounds to file a dispute.

It is a stupid business idea if you ask me.
If you want to sell your stuff then shipping shouldn't be more expensive then the product itself.
For example, a keychain costs around 6$, shipping to Europe 20$.

Odd. I just went to the Eve Store and added a timecard to my cart as a test and I get a "Estimate Shipping" box on the right that gives me the shipping amount for the order before I hit the checkout button. Maybe she didn't see it before completing the order.
The shipping prices are quite rediculously stupid though. Tells me to get a card from GA to FL would be $10 when a postage stamp costs 44 cents. Hell even an Insured Certified Priority Mail letter through USPS would only be $7.75.
Me thinks CCP needs to grow a clue about how things get mailed around in the US. Looks like FedEx has suckered them good... ---
To err is human but it shouldn't be the company motto...

Just an update:
This order was placed at 10:30 AM on 12/18/2009, its now 5 pm on 12/23/2009.
We have left 6 phone messages, emailed 4 times and sent 2 faxes.
The money has not been redeposited into my account, the game time card has not shown up and we have not had any communication from CCP.
Unfortunately we paid with a debit card, the same one used to pay the monthly sub. I don't know how useful TD bank is going to be in this situation.
Have a merry f'in christmas CCP!

I ordered some back issues of EO-N. No complaints here, although the shipping charges were a bit high (as in very high) I live in the US and the items were shipped from England, so I am not sure what reasonable shipping would of been offhand.

Stuff from MMM Publishing comes form the UK. The rest of the stuff in the store comes from the US. Since they moved the store there I've not bought anything purely because there's no shipping options, its just expensive beyond reason - I don't care if it takes weeks longer to get here, I'm not paying 100% more just to get my order, and then whatever import duties customs decide to slap on once it reaches the UK. ================

That's just crazy.
Come on CCP, get of your arses and give this man his money back. "Estimate shipping" is not the same as giving a final charge summary before the transaction goes through, and it's a downright con to charge something the buyer hasn't been explicitly told will be additional to their order. If a company with a store in England did that, they'd be crucified by Trading Standards. Sig removed, inappropriate content. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |
