im not really a pve guy so i dont know much about the general rats in eve. but just recently i lost a hulk to rats when i was forced to go afk for very long. in my whining my friend said to aviod accident just go with a passive tank. but it seems that i cant get my recharge rate to where i want it without taking my lowslot cargo mods out. if i can tank specificly for a curtin damage type that would be great. but that doesnt do me much good if the rats in the domain region do all diff types of damage. so my question is do the rates in the domain region al do a curtian damage type? like em and therm?

Next time you are in game, randomly click show info on whoever is in local. By the third one you will find a complete list of NPC rats and their damage/weakness listed in the bio.

Just buy a decent small shield booster (gistii a-type small shield booster if memory serves) and you should be able to tank triple 0.0 BS spawns in your hulk.

Each region has a native type of pirate 'rat' (NPC). There exist maps that have which regions have what pirate NPC's but I can't find any right now (I've definitely seen one before)
It roughly goes that North and East Amarr space is Sansha, whilst South Amarr and Khanid are Blood Raider. Gallente space is serpentis, whilst Caldari space is Guristas and Minmatar space is Angels.
Drone regions (The North East of 0.0) are all drones, hence the name. The middle of the East is Angel whilst the South East of 0.0 is Sansha. Delve/Querious/Period Basis are Blood raider whilst everything west of Empire, North of Delve and South of Delekin is Serpentis. The rest (The North West and North Central) is Gurista
Wormholes are sleeper, and in anomalies and complexes you'd expect to find the native rat type but don't be surprised if you don't. This includes 'hidden belts' that you might find yourself mining in
Eidt: For domain you want to tank EM and to a lesser extend, Therm, as those are the damage types sansha NPC's do. Same goes for Blood Raiders
Google for "eve NPC damage types". I've used Grismar, Elfarto or evegeek (though I don't know which of those are currently still up to date)

Edited by: Zev''Nar on 21/12/2009 20:37:20 I would rather use drones and save the low slots for other things myself. 4-5 drones can protect a Hulk from Asteroid Belt rat spawns in any 0.5+ system.
When I am going up against Sansha rats in Domain I've been tanking Thermal and hitting them with EM. I guess from what I'm reading online they do damage and are weak to both EM and Thermal.
