I have this account another more recent one. This one was inactive for a while so I'd started up the other and eventually decided to revive this one as well.
Made the decision to keep both and train each for a specific purpose. This Gallente will eventually be fine tuned for low-sec ratting and PvP while the other one - Caldari - will be the main source of income via manufacturing/research/etc.
I wanted to have a corp for these two accounts to share resources so I set one up HQ'd in Luminaire with offices nearby. Problem is I didn't really consider that the Caldari character has some pretty bad standings with Gallente corps and their related partners.
I have a few questions that may either assuage my concern over this decision or inspire me to pack up the corporation and move it to a more neutral ground.
1. How important are standings with a corporation for manufacturing and such in their station? I have Duvolle and Chemal tech in my neighborhood but I don't want to start grinding standings with the other character if it's going to make him an enemy of the Caldari State.
2. Should I even care about that? Granted I mission ran for some interesting corporations there but other than not getting to see CPF's neat logo very often does it really matter if this guy is a Benedict Arnold?
3. Does using a particular corporation's station mean anything in the long run? I would eventually like to buy some neat gear from Duvolle and perhaps Lai Dai but should I bother trying to stack up the loyalty points for that or just make the cash and buy the stuff I want?
Note: I am training up the various social skills - diplomacy and connections - relevant to my standings. I'm just wondering if I'm taking the right route here or if I'm setting myself up for failure.
Thanks!

I have also noticed that some features - like time efficiency research - cost more depending on which station's facilities I'm looking at. How is the cost calculated? I have two Federation Navy facilities nearby and one is charging about 2.5 times what the other one is.

Standings are really unimportant in a one-man corp.
We live out of POSes. I haven't been to the corp office in over a month. Our corp office is rarely used by anyone in the corp these days.
Offices are also unimportant. They make sharing stuff easier, bu you can locate them anywhere, and have more than one (base cost is 10,000 ISK a month).

1. When reprocessing items or using the labs you get a good standings discount if you have good standings. I can't tell you however how much this impacts on your profit margin. It may be negligible.
2. I can't answer this. But personally I wouldn't go to a station where I have negative standings towards the owner.
3. If you want to buy items from a particular LP store (agent store), you should know this:
- Some items are exclusive or at least cheaper in the "faction warfare only" LP store. (though that's mainly pvp items like faction drones and ships)
- It takes some time to accumulate LP. You will have reached excellent standings long before you have enough LP to buy the most expensive items. If you don't enjoy missions, you will find yourself grinding just to get LP
Another thing you should consider: will you ever use a high-sec POS for researching and building. I'm not experienced enough with this to tell you if it is more or less profitable to use a POS, but I know that you need good standings if you want to anchor a POS in high-sec. You might want to get more info on this subject from the industrialists.

They provide a small but useful discount on broker/lab/factory fees. Useful but very far from required.
For refining it makes a much larger difference, but the corps you listed don't have very good stations for refining anyways. Originally by: Conrad Peet 2. Doesn't really matter too much. BTW - as long as you decline missions that would have you kill Caldari NPC's, you will have little trouble building high standings with Gallente corps and keeping your standings with Caldari out of the dumpster.
I have perfect refining with several corps in both faction blocks. It is really not hard to keep your standings balanced. Just keep an eye on who you kill. Originally by: Conrad Peet 3. Doesn't matter in the long run. Pick a station that works well for you.
When buying neat gear, use the market/contracts. When cashing out LP go for the best ISK return.
Footnote - You can easily relocate your HQ and open offices where ever they come in handy. You do not need to have an office at your HQ, nor does the location of your HQ have any real effect.
Office rent has nothing to do with standings: it is set by demand. When all office slots are in use, the rent will rise until someone decides not to renew. If several offices slots are available the price will start dropping until the slots are used up.
